MESSENGER FTP — A COMPLETE SOLUTION The FTP channel is an efficient method for delivering high volumes of data. It leverages the Internet to deliver and receive information, and supports defined file naming conventions. To ensure data security and integrity, FTP software that includes a PGP file encryption key is required. You can use your own FTP software for interfacing with the FTP channel. Information that can be securely downloaded includes: Previous Day Report Current Day Report Intraday Report Automatic download of data in BAI format Treasury Management Client

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

Internet Connection An Internet connection is required. You should consider connection speed as compared to the file size and amount of data transmitted. The more data transmitted, the faster the network connection speed should be which will result in less time online. FTP Software with PGP Encryption The connection of your FTP software with the Regions Messenger FTP Server facilitates the exchange of information. The following screen illustrates an example of FTP software:

Page 4: Regions Messenger FTP User Guide

The following screen illustrates the FTP Pickup Channel Options screen.

To upload the FTP PGP Certificate:

1. Select Upload New PGP Certificate, which will display the screen below.

2. Paste in the public key and select OK.

PGP ENCRYPTION SETUP FOR FTP PICKUP To ensure data security and integrity, FTP software that includes a PGP Certificate (file encryption key) is required.

Data Field Definition and Usage

Overwrite Files When this Check Box is selected, Regions Messenger will overwrite an existing file with new information if the same file name were to be created. If the box is unchecked, data files will not be overwritten. In this case, if a duplicate file name is encountered, Regions Messenger will ensure uniqueness by adding "_n" to the file name.

Encrypt Files Regions Messenger will encrypt information with your PGP certificate resident in the Current PGP Certificate field. This certificate is your Public PGP Encryption key.

Note: Regions Messenger will place a .pgp suffix on all PGP encrypted files.

Upload New Certificate

Select Upload New PGP Certificate to install a PGP certificate. A new modal window will open to accept the certificate. The window will appear as displayed:

The PGP certificate will be generated from your FTP software. Please follow these steps:

1. Generate the PGP certificate in your FTP software 2. Highlight the PGP certificate and right click and choose copy 3. Open the new PGP certificate window in Messenger 4. Right click on the blank white box and choose paste 5. Click OK

The window will close and messages will be shown at the top of the FTP Pickup Channel Options window indicating the PGP Certificate is valid. A reminder to press the Save option will be displayed.

6. Click Save

PGP ENCRYPTION SETUP FOR FTP DELIVERY The following screen is an example of the FTP Delivery Channel Options screen.

Data Field Definition and Usage

Name* The Name field is a text box that lets you give the FTP destination a distinguishing name value. A data value for this field is required.

Host URL* The Host URL is the site address for your FTP server. The value can be entered in URL format (server.domain.com) or IP Address format (123.45.67.890). A data value for this field is required.

User Name* The user name you establish for Regions Messenger to authenticate a login into your FTP Server. A data value for this field is required.

User Password* The password associated with the user name you establish for Messenger to authenticate a login into your FTP Server. A data value for this field is required.

Directory The directory or folder into which Regions Messenger is to deposit files on your FTP server. A data value for this field is optional. If no value is supplied, Messenger will deposit the file in the FTP server’s current directory after the login process is completed.

File Name Macro*

The File Name Macro is a way to define and customize file names for the information received with FTP. By entering a series of text characters and special macro characters, a naming convention for these files can be defined. This naming convention will help identify and manage your data.

When you define a file name for FTP channel information, the acceptable file name characters are the basic alpha-numeric characters (a-z and 0-9), the hyphen (-), plus the underscore (_).

Page 7: Regions Messenger FTP User Guide

Regions Messenger FTP User Guide 6

The FTP channel File Name also provides Macros as a way to insert variable data into the file name. The table below shows the macros available to you. To use a macro, enter the macro surrounded by the percent sign (%) in the File Name Macro text box. Macros are not case-sensitive and may be entered in either upper and/or lower case characters. Please note, however, since MM is used for both month and minute, lower-case mm indicates month and upper-case MM identifies minute.

Macro Description

%SERVICE% The Service name. Service names with multiple words will contain an underscore. (Example: Sunrise_Report)

%TEMPLATENAME% The name of the template creating this file. (Example template name: PDTAP2). Note: some services may not use templates, SUNRISE for example.

%FILENAME% The original file name as created by Regions Messenger.

%yyyy% Current Year with century. (YYYY=2005)

%yy% Current Year no century. (YY=05)

%mm% Current Month numeric. (01-12)

%mmm% Current Month 3-character. (JAN-DEC)

%dd% Current Day. (01-31)

%dow% Current Day of Week. (SUN-SAT)

%hh% Current Hour. (00-23)

%MM% Current Minute. (00-59)

%ss% Current Second. (00-59)

NOTE: Regions Messenger’s services create and deliver many different types of data files and will supply an appropriate suffix for the file name. An appropriate suffix is one that can help you identify the type of data contained in the file. For example, image file names may contain a .jpg or .tif suffix, while other files may have a .pdf or .txt suffix to indicate a Portable Document Format file or one that contains ASCII text information.

Encrypt Files When this Check Box is selected, Regions Messenger will encrypt information with your PGP certificate resident in the Current PGP Certificate field. This certificate is your Public PGP Encryption key.

NOTE: While it is a more common practice than an industry requirement, many systems that PGP-encrypt data files will place a .pgp suffix on the file name. Some FTP software will require PGP encrypted files to contain a .pgp suffix in order for the decrypt process to occur automatically. Regions Messenger will place a .pgp suffix on all PGP encrypted files. Therefore, your encrypted file names may appear to have 2 suffixes (i.e. BAI04MAR05.txt.pgp).

Protocol* The type of FTP protocol Messenger will use when connecting to this FTP Destination. The possible values are FTP, EXPLICIT FTPS, IMPLICIT FTPS and SFTP.

Connection Mode*

Connect Mode is an FTP protocol option. The possible values are Active or Passive. Passive mode is recommended as FTP traffic is usually blocked by firewalls unless Passive mode is used.

Page 8: Regions Messenger FTP User Guide

Transfer Mode* Transfer Mode is an FTP protocol option. The possible values are ASCII or Binary. Binary mode is recommended as encrypted files are binary in format. Note: ASCII armoring and text mode can offset the binary mode recommendation. Please refer to your PGP documentation for more information about these options.
