The Village of Burns Lake has a comprehensive and attainable plan for long term

THAT a Variance Permit be approved for a reduction in the

exterior side yard setback requirement from 6 metres to 0 metres

on the property legally described as Lots 1-5, District Lot

5402/6309, Range 5, Coast District Plan EPP341;

AND THAT the Development Services Coordinator be authorized to

endorse all documents necessary to register the Variance Permit.

c) Boiler Safety Requirements

Recommendation:

THAT council request NCLGA and UBCM to petition the BC Safety

Authority to simplify the process of obtaining the Basic Safety

Awareness and the Power Engineer Level 5 Certificates by

submitting the following resolution to the 2013 NCLGA

Conference:

WHEREAS The Basic Safety Awareness Certificate and the Fifth

Class Power Engineer Certificate are very rare certifications

among municipal staff, as well as cumbersome, expensive, and

time-consuming to obtain for staff in rural communities;

AND WHEREAS The BC Safety Authority – Boiler Branch requires

municipalities to have an employee, so certified, present at all

times during any usage of public facilities housing boilers;

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the NCLGA and UBCM petition

the BC Safety Authority – Boiler Branch to create a cost/time

effective, online venue for obtaining certification.
