RE:LOCATION 2012 - Norway

Promote YT has been developing a series of international partnerships since 2008, principally through facilitating the presentation of expertise from Europe as part of its training platforms. This has led to a strong working relationship with the Rogaland Theatre, a centre of excellence for youth and children’s theatre in Norway.

As a result of this relationship Promote YT was invited to participate in the formation of RE:LOCATION 2012, a pioneering project designed to promote international exchange and celebrate excellence in youth theatre.

Scotland is therefore privileged to be one of only six nations invited to descend upon Stavanger this summer to form part of the company of 50 young artists who will share work and then collaboratively devise a site-specific performance over 10 days to be performed as part of the city’s summer cultural programme.

The RE:LOCATION 2012 International Youth Theatre Project involves young people and lead artists from the following organisations:

For the first time, at the National Festival of Youth Theatre 2012, the RE:LOCATION 2012 Scottish Company will perform together before representing Scotland at RE:LOCATION 2012, Norway this August.

“I freeze, my pupils begin to dilate, I gasp for air.

I am not alone, something is watching me. I have become trapped - suffocated by fear. Why do we remember some moments in our life more than others? Those moments where we are forced to see differently and are exposed to the darkness that is under our beds, deep in the woods, or within our TV sets.”

SCOTTISH

INTERNATIONAL YOUTH THEATRE PROJECT

COMPANY

2012

The RE:LOCATION 2012 SCOTTISH COMPANY is a collaborative artistic project led by Promote YT in partnership with Visible Fictions and the National Theatre of Scotland, with investment from Creative Scotland.

Selected from youth theatres across Scotland, this company of 8 exceptional young performers and leading artists have been working throughout the National Festival of Youth Theatre, devising and rehearsing the performance they will take to Stavanger, Norway, to represent Scotland this August at RE:LOCATION 2012.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for the eight talented young people to collaborate with their peers from other nations and a great introduction to a professional career in theatre and the performing arts. Working with highly skilled theatre professionals in Scotland and then performing a new work in Stavanger, Norway, will be a life-changing experience for each of them.” - Creative Scotland

The RE:LOCATION 2012 Scottish Company presents:

*This opportunity is kindly supported by the National Theatre of Scotland.
