1 Replacing shaft assembly 6/3/14 Parts New shaft assembly, new bearing assemblies, Tapper bushing. Tools Emery cloth,10mm wrench and socket, 3mm allen wrench, 2.5mm allen wrench, If you have a MAXX 4 model you may need a 7mm wrench as well to open the door. Getting started Make sure to turn off and unplug your unit! unplug motor and label lead to make sure that the motor is plugged back in correctly and rotates in the correct direction after re- installations. Also, make sure to save all spacers as you remove them so that they can be reused. FRONT SIDE Step1: Disconnect and remove the thermo fuse from motor mount bracket Step 2: Remove the motor position sensor and arm Step 3: Loosen the three motor bolts to let the tension off of the belt. Do not completely remove the motor bolts Step 4: Remove the motor mounting bracket by removing the mount bolts. The motor and belt will come off with the mounting bracket. Step 5: Remove the toothed pulley and tapered bushing STOP!

Step 6: Remove the bearing by removing the two nuts.""

Step 7: Clean the area where the bearing bolts to the tank with emery cloth to ensure a good seal."""

IN THE TANK"

Step 8: Remove the cartridge holder by removing the screws at either end of the cartridge holder crossmember on the bottom of the cartridge holder. "

Step 9: Then remove the cartridge holder mounting bolts. Work the cartridge holder out of the tank. (note: you will have to have to do this to both cartridge holders on the MAXX 8 models.)""

"BACK SIDE"

Step 9: Remove the back panel by removing the four allen screws""

Step 10: Remove the bearing by removing the two nuts""INSIDE THE TANK""MAXX8 ONLY"remove the four nuts holding on the shaft support cross member. ""

Pictured cartridge holder is in the upside down position. This will make it easier to access the the 2 screws pointed out

Step 11: Remove the shaft assembly from the tank.""

Step 12: Remove the non-welded cartridge holder mounts from the shaft. They will be used on the new shaft unless damaged.""Place the old cartridge holder mount on the new shaft. This should go on easily and move freely. If it is tight, DO NOT FORCE!THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE END OF THE SHAFT. Sand the end of the shaft until the mount moves freely."

Step 13: BEFORE INSTALLING THE NEW ASSEMBLY IN THE TANK, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE PUT THE PROPER SPACERS ON THE SHAFT!"Install new shaft assembly, with cartage holder brackets and spacers, in the tank.""MAXX8 ONLY"Replace the four nut the shaft support cross member. " "Front and back of tank""

Step 14: Install new bearings and o-rings on both ends of the shaft. Use a light layer of silicone to help hold the o-rings on the bearings and to help improve seal.""

Inside tank""

Step 15: Reinstall the cartridge holder assembly and check that you have proper spacers on the shaft and that nothing is rubbing. """Back Side of unit""Step 16: The back side panel can be reinstalled with the four allen screws.""Front of unit"

Step 17: Reinstall the spacer, taper bushing, and large toothed pulley on the end of the shaft. "AGAIN, DO NOT FORCE! THIS CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE END OF THE SHAFT!!!!

Step 18: Reinstall the motor, belt, and motor mount bracket on the unit by reinstalling the mounting nuts. Re-tension the belt and re-tighten the motor bolts. Reinstall the motor position sensor and arm. Plug the motor back in.""
