Report on commissioning of one innovative wood-effect decorative machine, gas fired.
Commissioning done in Sunshine suburb of Melbourne in Australia the week started on March 5th 2012.
The main idea is to have a double wall made out of rock wool panels holded in place by an external steel structure.
This way most of the steel mass is not participating in the heating and cooling cycles, ensuring this way small thermal inertia
and the highest temperature uniformity inside the oven due to very small heat losses.
It is characteristic that during the start-up of the plant and before we regulate the air ducts openings inside the oven, the
temperature differences during the transient period of heating-up from cool were important, of a about 12 degrees differences
between zone 1 and zone 2 in the sense of the length of the oven. As soon as the temperature target of 210 degrees was
reached and with the burner at the low flame for finer adjustments no more increase was allowed, the temperature difference
between zone 1 and zone 2 was just 2 degrees centigrade: 212 degrees at zone 1 and 210 degrees at zone 2.
See the temperatures at the front operation panel between the first teperature controller (zone 1) and the 3rd one (zone 2).
The 2nd temperature controller is indicating the temperature inside the burner's heat exchanger (231 degrees) which is higher
of course.
This is below the description of the main wood-effect machine to produce a big variety of wood grain designs on the
aluminium profiles.

Oven with a minimum of thermal inertia: because all the steel structure remains outside the heated area of the oven and the
insulation panels are placed in between. There is no big mass of steel to heat up.
By the same time the heat losses remain very low and the temperature uniformity is therefore enhanced.
+ or – 1 degree aluminium metal object temperature was recorded at 220 degrees oven temperature.
The total wall insulation thickness is 160 mm composed by 2 panels composed each one by 2 0,5 mm steel sheet with rock
wool insulation in between. So the hot air of the oven chamber has to heat-up the 0,5 mm of steel of the walls out of a total of
2 mm steel thickness (4 times 0,5 mm). This leads to very low thermal inertia with very few thermal losses as there are no
thermal bridges and at the corners we have a 2 panels maize for the heat to pass through still blocked by special filler glue
withstanding 300 degrees centigrade.

The Machine consists in the Oven and a large Trolley at one side in length.
The trolley is for the charging and Vacuum application on the Heat Transfer Film Bags with the Alum Profiles inside them.
The machine includes also the General Electric Panel with the PLC, Inverters and other electronic/electric devices and the
main Operation panel.
The loading is possible to be done from both sides of the large Trolley. Each loading position is served by 2 operators.
The hot air is directed through jet slots transverse to the aluminium profiles positions, striking this way the profiles at high air
speed for securing the heating-up speed and the uniformity all sides of the items.
Hot air Generator with 2 blowers 3 kw each.
The Burner is a 160.000 KCAL/Hour capacity one and is of the 2 stage type.
The Machine can process Aluminium profiles 7000 mm, Aluminium Sheets 2500 x 1000 mm or some other flat wide items.
It can process also short Profiles with a m inimum length of 5 00 mm.
Some other items of different maximum dimensions could be processed too.
The aluminium profiles already in bags formatted by the plastic transfer film at a previous stage are attached at the special
sucking heads supported by the Trolley.
The decoration or “Sublichromia” cycle ends when the temperature sensor on the profiles informs the central controller
(PLC) that 30 seconds (or as preset) has passed after the items’ surface temperature has reached the pre-set temperature of
190 or 200 degrees.
Blowing action is applied for separating the film from the Decorated Profiles at the end of the cycle while the trolley is
automatically retracted out and away the Oven.
Sheets 1000 mm wide by 2500 mm decorated on a special attachment or Platform: for sheets 1000 mm wide by up to 2500
mm long, without rubber membrane on light stainless steel platforms loaded like the bags on the main profiles
SUBLIFRAMES, the vacuum applied directly on the film.
