“De.Code Integration” aims at bridging the gap betweenthe general lack of digital skills & the unemployment ratesamong vulnerable people, facing the risk of remainingsocially & economically excluded, along with the increasinggrowth of the Greek digital economy. The specific digitalskills that are needed from the tech industry are related toWeb Development Technologies, relevant tools andplatforms, that professional developers use to deliver webprojects. These web technologies have been designed froma European Network of Coding Schools, that SHA is amember of and form a 7-month curriculum taught fromprofessional developers. The 7-month program also entailssoft skills development and creation of touch pointsbetween tech companies’ representatives and students, tocreate employment opportunities. 15 vulnerableindividuals have been chosen to participate in the class anddevelop their digital & soft skills, with the support ofprofessionals & experts.

Changes in the external environmentthat affects student's progress:

Asylum Granting Process is taking time to get completed, with beneficiaries having to go through repetitive process, without clear outcomes. This affects the motivation andeagerness of some students to study & complete theprogram’s assignments.

Feedback From Beneficiaries:They are positive with the change of the teachers, per module,as they bring different perspectives and ideas on how tobetter deliver the curriculum. The weekly tracking of theirhomework is demanding but it helps them stay in top of thematerial

Challenges & how to handle them:

The main challenges so far are centered around how to bettermanage students’ progress throughout the curriculum. Thecurriculum is demanding and new material is taught on aweekly basis, meaning that if they miss a class, extra effortshould be given from the Head of Education and the teacherson explaining questions and helping students to keep up. Thischallenge is being eliminated, through individual meetings withthe students & extra homework assignments.

What students say about theproject:

It gives me something that no classesgave me such as providing a laptop

for your requirements and even bring home with us and the team'sattitude; we are not judged by our

skin or nationality

This is an opportunity that I can notmiss since SHA has opened its doors

to me for me to study again andlearn new things and new

perspectives.
