Report Learners' Engagement Activity -2014 Organized under UNFPA-MHRD supported Adolescence Education Programme Regional Center: PUNE Date: 29 th November, 2014 Venue: Dr. Kalmadi Shamrao High School, Erandawne, Pune-38 No. of participating AIs: 09 No. of participating Tutors: 09 No. of participating Learners: 75 Inaugural Ceremony Learners Engagement Activity 2014 was inaugurated at 10.15 am on 29 th Nov, 2014 at Dr. Kalmadi Shamrao High School, Erandwane, Pune-38 a study Centre of NIOS (AI No. 110085), in the presence of Judges, Master Trainers, Tutors, Learners of NIOS and staff of RC, Pune. There was a gathering of over 108 participants along with the Regional Centre staff. As per tradition the inaugural function began with the lighting of lamp. Shri Ashok Kumar, Asst. Director welcomed everyone to the LEA. Sh. U Raja Reddy, R.D spoke in detail about the background and the theme of the Learner Engagement Activity. He informed the Learners and the Tutors about the guidelines for the three activities namely Role Play, Creative Writing and Poster Making competitions. The NIOS song was played to set the mood. The response from all the 09 AIs was very good marked by great enthusiasm.

 Inaugural Ceremony

Activity 1 Role Play  The Role Play activity started around 11.00 am and was completed by 1.30 pm. There were 09 teams from 09 AIs for Role Play. The Judges for Role Play were Sh. SS Diwakar, Deputy Commissioner, NVS, Regional Office, Pune and Mrs Geeta Balagangadharan, Principal, KV, Army Area, Pune. After each team presented their Role Play the Judges asked a few questions about the life skills they have exhibited and the message of their Role Play. This interaction between Judges and Teams was very educating and interesting. The teams came well prepared and exhibited a spirit of healthy competition.

Creative Expression through Writing and Poster making competition Youth Festival 2014:-

 Activity 2 Creative Writing Competition:-  The competition started a t 11.00 am, after explaining the guidelines and themes. There was a good response for the competition from each and every AIs. 20 learners participated in creative writing competition.

Activity 3 Poster Making Competition:- In another class room poster making competition was held where 21 learners took part. Poster making competition started around 11.00 am. The learners were very keen in taking part in poster making competition. The theme of the competition was liked by most of the participants.

Valedictory Function:- The valedictory function started at 2.30 pm. It was graced by Dr. Masood Parveez, Regional Director, IGNOU, Pune. Sh. U Raja Reddy, R.D welcomed and introduced the guest and explained the background of LEA. Judges from all three categories presented a brief account of the activities. Two Master Trainers and two Tutors were given opportunities to express their views on the event. The prize distribution was carried out by Dr. Masood Parveez. Then the Role Plays which were adjudged First and Second were re-enacted in the presence of the guest. Dr. Parveez in his addresses appreciated the efforts of NIOS in organising such meaningful activities. The programme ended with vote of thanks proposed by Sh. Mahesh Prasad Saha, SO, RC, Pune.
