2019 REPORT FOR 25 YEARS OF OKNOPLAST
We have been supporting social initiatives from the very beginning of our operations.

52019 REPORT FOR 25 YEARS OF OKNOPLAST
A WORD OF INTRODUCTION
A window is undoubtedly something
more than just an object shielding us
from the environment. It has become an
important element of interior design,
which emphasises the style of a home and
impacts the residents’ well-being, which
has an impact on our everyday life and
health. We had the opportunity to see this
transition of the window joinery industry
over the course of the last 25 years with
OKNOPLAST. Today, celebrating the 25th
anniversary of our launch, we can boldly
claim that we had a significant impact on
this metamorphosis. However, a company
is more than just a sum of its products. This
is why the OKNOPLAST Group, the leading
manufacturer of PVC windows, attaches
particular importance to creating safe
and innovative spaces for our customers,
employees, partners and communities.
Since 1994, we have been consistently
creating spaces for our consumers by
offering them innovative solutions, which
have a positive impact on their surround-
ings; for our employees, by offering them
development opportunities, as well as for
the society as a whole, by getting involved
in important initiatives and events. As a
consequence of these actions, we have
also created an inspiring space in business,
thanks to our collaboration with start-ups
and organisations, as well as building
strong relationships with business part-
ners. Another key element of the broadly
understood process of creating spaces is
taking care of the environment, which is
a natural consequence of the development
of our company and the sense of responsi-
bility, which stems directly from it.
In line with this philosophy, we defined
and implemented good practices, which
we would like to share with you now,
in this particularly special moment for
OKNOPLAST.

01 ABOUT THE COMPANY / FAMILY TRADITION OF INNOVATION
2019 REPORT FOR 25 YEARS OF OKNOPLAST
We are a dynamically growing
group with experience spanning
twenty-five years and an
established position as one of
the leaders of the PVC joinery
industry in Europe.
What is particularly important for us is the
fact that the OKNOPLAST Group is a Polish
family business. We believe that family
businesses constitute a very valuable
element of the business sector, due to the
values they bring to economic and social
life. This is why we make every effort to
develop and strengthen the positive image
of the Polish brand both in Poland, as well
as in the international market.
Our strength lies in innovation. As a
leader in this field, we do not only conform
to the current trends – we are setting new
trends instead. We were the first company
in Europe to implement over 50 innova-
tive industry solutions, thus shaping the
direction of its development. These inno-
vations, as well as the high quality of our
products enabled the OKNOPLAST brand
to conquer the markets of the Old Conti-
nent. We operate in a number of markets,
including in Austria, Czechia, France, Ger-
many, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden,
Norway, Finland, Italy and Hungary, where
we are one of the leading suppliers of PVC
and aluminium windows, doors and roller
blinds. In 2018, the OKNOPLAST Group

ing three companies: OKNOPLAST offering

ABOUT THE COMPANY / OUR MISSION AND VISION
In the OKNOPLAST Group we
know that the key to success is to
put our customer satisfaction as
the foundation of everything we
do.
At the same time, we are well-aware of the
fact that long-term customer satisfaction
is one of the most difficult goals to achieve
while running a business. This is why as
a group comprising three brands, we are
doing our best to provide not only the best
products, but also comprehensive services
to customers – a goal that is supported by
missions and visions of each of the brands.
The missions and visions of each brand
constituting the OKNOPLAST Group com-
prise their most important values, which
guide us in our everyday activities. Our
sustainability strategy sets an important
goal – delivering long-term benefits to
all stakeholders, including our customers
and business partners, our employees, as
well as those in need, who are the focus
of our CSR activities. We also attach great
importance to environmental protection
initiatives.

We build all our products with passion and

is also an important element of its interior

made of PVC and aluminium, roller blinds
and a broad range of accessories. We also
launched in-house production of our own

Group attaches great importance
to the highest quality of our
products.
In order to ensure compliance with the
most stringent standards, the entire pro-
duction process is constantly subjected
to quality control process, carried out
internally, as well as by external entities.
We carry out thorough analyses from the
moment of receiving components from our
suppliers, which are then used to make our
products. What is more, the OKNOPLAST
Quality System experts, who work
together with suppliers, carry out regular
quality audits, whose aim is to improve
our suppliers’ production processes. We
check 100% of products on production
lines to ensure the highest possible level
of compliance with customer expectations.
Every product is packaged using transport
racks and properly secured, so that it does
not sustain any damage during transport.
We also employed a special quality man-

Since the very launch of our
operations, OKNOPLAST focused
on innovative ideas, supported

offer to conscious – and thus
demanding – customers.
This is why innovation is one of the cor-

to the growing needs of the market. This
approach led us to be the first company

252019 REPORT FOR 25 YEARS OF OKNOPLAST
OKNOPLAST has developed more than 50
innovations. In 2003, we were the first
company to showcase a thermal insulation
window. We doubled it up with patented
invisible hinges, hidden in the frame. We
were the first company to release a four-
pane window, as well as with chambers
filled with krypton gas. Both technologies
ensured our competitive advantage in
terms of heat transfer coefficient. What
is more, before us, nobody has ever tried
to use a narrower, 70-millimetre window
profile with the same static properties as
the basic 80-millimetre profile

2. MBO — Management by Objectives
In the OKNOPLAST Group, we want to
ensure that all employees feel a sense
of ownership towards the company
and its impact on stakeholders, as well
as on the environment. That is why we
implemented the MBO management
programme – Management by Objectives. It
is a model based on very precisely defined
assumptions for the company – resulting
from the adopted strategy – as well as
for all individual employees. By pursuing
their personal and professional objectives,
our employees contribute to the success of
the company. It is worth noting that our
management processes are innovative in
comparison with traditional MBO designs,
since apart from implementing hard goals,
we also developed and implemented
OKNOPLAST values and clearly defined
managerial roles.
Internal communication within the
organisation is one of the key elements of
the company’s strategy. Every employee
should be able to clearly define the most
important objectives and goals of the
entire company. This is why our internal
communication is multi-pronged and
encompasses meetings with teams, a new
Intranet, information boards and newslet-
ters.

At OKNOPLAST Group, we know that the
strength of the company lies in its people
– regardless of the department they work
in and their actual position. That is why we
believe that our employees are the best
source of knowledge about the organisa-
tion and its capabilities, as well as new
directions of development. This observa-
tion has led us to establishing HR rooms
everywhere, even in production halls. We
want the dialogue in our company to be
ongoing – thus, we want to give everybody
an opportunity to voice their concerns or
share their proposals. This is yet another
tool, which enables us to ensure support
for everybody who needs it. Building a

of them to become actively involved in
decision-making processes and share
their often innovative concepts to carry
out the common goals and objectives,
which translates into a number of positive
changes. Creating a space, in which every
employee can share their ideas and over-
see its implementation remains one of our
key priorities. Our team is what deter-
mines the standing of our company and its

to the initiative of OKNOPLAST Group

Developing competencies of our employ-
ees has an impact on implementation of
our strategy and objectives, since without
their engagement we cannot sustain our
growth and development at a satisfactory
rate.
Creating space for development
That is why we make every effort to
make them feel valued in the OKNOPLAST
Group and to enable them to learn. All
development programmes are a part of
the management and knowledge sharing
framework in place within the company.
In addition, we support our employees by
subsidising foreign language courses. We
also subsidise purchases of books, text-
books and academic journals, as well as
external training and additional education.
We also launched a special training
line for our production workers, where
new employees learn their ropes for three
weeks before starting actual work.

July 2017
Riding my motorcycle is my passion,
and I’ve always dreamed of going to
Romania on two wheels. However, such
an undertaking required considerable
financial outlays. I managed to save up
a bunch of money, but that still was
not enough. At some point, I faced the
risk of having to cancel the trip, but
thankfully, I found help nearby.

We have been working with the Bridge
Foundation since 2015. One of the Foun-
dation’s initiatives, which we had our part
in, was the “Education is a Window to the
World” international project. Its objective
is to teach youth about the global envi-
ronmental, social and cultural challenges,
as well as their impact on Poland. In 2017,
the project carried out the “Stop the culture
of waste” campaign, promoting circular
economy. The campaign included waste
paper collection, the proceeds from which
were used to purchase books for munici-
pal libraries in 314 districts. Together with
our employees, we collected 10,411 kilo-
grams of waste paper. In addition, we also
shared our knowledge on recycling with
youth during special workshops.

that can be effectively treated. Among the
activities included within the scope of the
campaign was the “Outrun Cancer” race,
which was attended by OKNOPLAST team

regular basis. We also organised a unique
activity during the international BATI-

During the fairs and trade shows, our
stand is visited by thousands of people. We
decided to take advantage of this fact and
in addition to presenting our products, we
decided to join the Movember campaign.
We know how difficult it is to get motivated

wanted to emphasise the main message of
Movember – not only during the BATIMAT,
but also in our headquarters near Krakow.

We are also involved in a variety
of local charity drives, such as football

along with an auction of football gadgets,
the proceeds of which funded the treat-

a company, we have donated a T-shirt
of Abdelkader Ghezzaly, who played for

During the event, the organisers managed

In March 2017, we also got involved as

Polish Rally Champion Janusz Kulig, who
passed away in a tragic accident in 2004.
Currently, for a couple of years, the Kra-
kow Automobile Club has been organising
a commemorative rally. It was only natural
for us to join the event as its partner and
sponsor. The 11th Memorial to J. Kulig and
M. Bublewicz took place in April 2017.
This prestigious event is particularly
important for us because of its location – it
takes place in a neighbouring town, which
makes us feel even more responsible and
connected to this initiative.
At the end of 2013, we got involved in a
charity game “All Together for Simoncelli”,
together with Italian stars. The meeting
was dedicated to Marco Simoncelli, an Ital-
ian motorcycle rider who died in a track
accident in 2011. The aim of the event was
to support the construction of a day care
centre for persons with disabilities in Cori-
ano, Rimini, where he grew up. The charity
drive was attended by world-famous stars,
including Alberto Tomba and Zucchero.

752019 REPORT FOR 25 YEARS OF OKNOPLAST
Being an architect is a never-ending
challenge. Trends change in a blink
of an eye and the customers are
increasingly aware, and thus more
demanding. This is why we are
constantly on a lookout for innovative
and unique solutions. Collaboration
with OKNOPLAST
– a market and innovation leader
– offers nearly unlimited opportunities
for growth. I had the opportunity to
learn from the best, which immediately
translated into building my own brand
as an architect.
Julia Wilczyńska
young architect
As a company with deep roots in
Poland, we grew to appreciate
Polish culture and art, as well as
its diversity. We want to support
young artists and help them to
fulfil their artistic dreams.
That is why we pay attention to unconven-
tional initiatives and support social and
cultural initiatives, which constitutes an
important element of our activities.
Opening a window to art
Every year, we are patrons of the
“Jasiński&Friends” art exhibitions, which
have become a staple in the calendar of
cultural events taking place in Warsaw.
The key idea behind these exhibitions is
to promote Polish art – painting, sculpture,
graphic arts and photography, as well as to
foster positive relationships between the
artistic milieus, cultural institutions, busi-

2017, we got involved in this initiative for
the fourth time.
We create a space for development for young architects
We joined the “Young Architects’ Competi-
tion” organised by the Builder monthly as
patrons, to mark our participation in the
“Promoting Polish Architecture” project.
The aim of the Competition is to support
students of architecture faculties and
young architects in their professional and
creative development. In 2017, during
the Young Architects’ Days, which consti-
tuted a part of the competition, we had
an opportunity to present our philosophy
and our innovative approach to design,
as well as present a rich product portfo-
lio. By doing so, we want to educate young
people and raise awareness of trends, as
well as inspire them to shape the future of
our industry.

Design competition. The aim of the initia-
tive was to select the most talented indus-
trial design designers among the young
generation. This is the only competition on
the market in which designers are evalu-
ated by representatives of the business
world. As part of our involvement, we
distinguished an amazing designer, who
presented a compact electric city vehicle
powered by a drill.
We build and appreciate creativity in Polish business
For the second subsequent time, the
President of the OKNOPLAST Group took
part in the Creative in Business project.
The 50 Most Creative in Business ranking
is an initiative that fosters the innovative
and creative business in Poland. President
Mikołaj Placek was once again asked to be
a part of the jury, which presents awards
to people who want to grow, build innova-

“La Dolce Vita” – combining Polish tradition and looking into future
As a Polish family-owned company, we
have the duty and a privilege to promote
our homeland abroad. The activity in this
field takes various forms, since apart from
promoting our products, we also want to
showcase our art to international audi-
ences. That is why we decided to join the
initiative originated by the Ambassador
of the Republic of Poland to Italy Tomasz

We are a Polish family-owned company,
which leads us to make every effort to
promote our country abroad.. Stemming
from this was our collaboration with the

04 OUR SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION / /
REDUCING WATER AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND CO2 EMISSIONS
The OKNOPLAST Group upholds the most
stringent international standards and
respects similar regulations, which enable
our company to minimise its environmen-
tal impact associated with the nature of
our operations. Working in a responsible
and safe manner is a cornerstone of our
factories and production plants. As the
industry leader, we also want to be at the
helm of green solution in manufacturing.
Our care for environmental protection
can be seen in our efforts to minimise our
footprint, as well as fostering collabora-
tion with academic institutions such as
the Krakow University of Technology and
local start-ups, as well as raising aware-
ness about environmental issues among
our employees, partners and customers.
We strive to limit energy and water
consumption at our production plants to
a minimum. To that end, we employ inno-
vative solutions that help us to achieve
higher energy efficiency.
Six years ago, we implemented com-
pressor heat recovery systems to heat
water in social rooms and warehouses. We
also replaced heating systems in selected
production halls, which significantly
improved working conditions and reduced
our gas consumption. What is more, we
also implemented a system for using
excess heat from one of the halls to heat a
part of the warehouse.
These solutions enabled us to reduce
the power used for lighting by 50% - its
consumption went down from 4 kW to
2 kW. Thanks to replacing lighting, we
also eliminated the cumbersome need to
replace energy-saving bulbs on a regular
basis. In addition, we now get better qual-
ity of light, which significantly improved
working conditions.

04 OUR SUSTAINABLE PRODUCTION / /
REDUCING WATER AND ENERGY CONSUMPTION AND CO2 EMISSIONS
The energy savings amounted to
460,800 kWh annually, which translates
into saving around 12 300 € every year.
We also strive to reduce water con-
sumption in our factories, which is why
we installed sedimentation stations in our
plants. These stations enable recovering
water from the machines used for cooling
our products. Thanks to this solution, 90%
of all water is constantly circulated, and as
a result, we use only 10% of fresh water.
In order to reduce our CO2 emissions,
we introduced a number of improvements
in our logistics. All countries, where we run
our OKNOPLAST showrooms, have very
strict regulations concerning the transport

fleet. Thus, we establish cooperation only
with carriers who conform with the most
stringent environmental standards. We
are also testing new carriers, who boast
ecological driving. Our vehicles meet the
highest environmental safety standards.
We load them using software that opti-
mises the space, as well as a special piece
of software which optimises routes by
3%. We are also striving to eliminate all
vehicles emitting carbon dioxide inside
our plants by introducing gas or electric-
powered forklifts.

RESPONSIBLE WASTE MANAGEMENT
Our production plants meticulously sort all
the waste, such as PVC, steel, aluminium,
foamed polystyrene and wood. We also
collaborate with specialised waste dis-
posal companies, which collect our waste
several times a month and recycle it.
Thanks to these efforts, no waste from our
plants end up in landfills.
What is more, we are constantly
striving to reduce the amount of waste
produced as part of our processes. This is
achieved for example by replacing quickly
destroyed wooden racks with metal ones.
In 2017 and 2018 we replaced 900 racks,
and we are planning to stop using wooden
racks altogether. Our objective is to reach
the number of 3000 metal racks.
Innovative products for our customers and the environment
From the very beginning of our operations,
we put our bet on innovative technologies
in our energy-saving PVC windows and
doors. We are well-aware of the fact that
buildings are responsible for 40% of all
energy consumption and that using the
right technologies – including windows –
increases energy efficiency and is key to
improving energy security. That is why
the OKNOPLAST Group constantly strives
to implement innovative solutions to
increase the energy efficiency of houses
and apartments.
We were the first company in Europe
to launch a thermal insulation window
in 2013, which ensures low heat energy
losses and thus lower heating costs. In
addition, the so-called warm installa-
tion technique, used by our company for
several years now, also impacts the heat
retention and emissions, because inten-

sive heating of the household using these
technologies is simply not necessary. This
also brings additional benefits in the form
of savings. Our Pixel windows also offer
a number of helpful technologies, since
they are characterised by lower profile
complexity and larger surface area of the
window panes, which means that 22%
more light gets inside. In reality, this trans-
lates into more natural heat inside, as well
as more sunlight, which lowers electricity
bills.
Our designs also take climate change
into consideration. Together with Brevis,
we designed anti-smog and anti-allergenic
ventilators, which filter out up to 98% of
the most harmful PM10 smog particles.
Thanks to this solution, the polluted air
does not get inside.
What is more important, none of our
products contain toxic substances. We
build innovative products that reduce pol-
lution. All of our windows have a very low
amount of harmful Volatile Organic Com-
Anti-smog ventilators stop 98% of PM10 particles.

pounds, while our profiles are completely
VOC-free, which is confirmed by appropri-
ate certificates. In addition, all our glass
panes and our profiles are lead-free.
We observe the most stringent envi-
ronmental standards at every stage of
window production – from the delivery of
raw materials to the transport of finished
goods from our factories. In order to
ensure compliance, we use high-quality
materials, such as 100% virgin, unrecycled
PVC. The difference between virgin PVC
and recycled PVC is based on the fact that
the former can be used and then recycled,
while the latter cannot be recycled. In the
case of our products, all hardware compo-
nents can be disassembled, recycled and
re-introduced into the production system.

At the OKNOPLAST Group, we constantly
feel the need to develop in a sustain-

processes, reducing our environmental
footprint, designing innovative solutions
and strengthening our relations with all
stakeholders. Continuous improvement
within the organisation is a key element
of these efforts. This has led us to sign the
declaration of adopting the Standard of
the Ethics Program, which was developed
on the basis of UN guidelines. This is a very
important commitment for our company,
and as a result, we have been preparing
for introducing the compliance policy
throughout 2017, which finally entered
into force in 2018. Our ethical standards
and principles concern our relationships
with all stakeholders – employees, cus-
tomers and partners. These are only some
of the efforts that we make every day to
manage our business in a responsible and
sustainable manner. At the same time, we
constantly keep our social responsibility
in mind, and we express our commitment
to this issue by getting involved in various
initiatives.
By doing so, over the course of 25 years

We want to further emphasise our
unwavering commitment to the social

does not end with what we did to date and
