Report of activities of Marathi Wangmay Mandal (2018-2019) :

1. Activities of Marathi Wangmay Mandal were inaugurated by renowned story

writer Shri. Ganesh Matkari on Tuesday, 21 Aug, 2018. He delivered lecture

on " आजची मराठी कथा : प्रभाव आणि बदल " .This program was 5th one in annual

lecture series "कथारंग" sponsored by Dr. Sudha Joshi, former Head, Dept Of

Marathi.

2. Report writing competition was organized in the month of Sep, 2018. Students

were asked to write report of inaugural program of Marathi Wangmay Mandal.

More than 23 students participated in it.

3. Marathi singing competition " सूरां मी वंददल े(sooraa mee vandile )" was organised

on 26 th Sep, 2018. This competition is organized to preserve and nurture rich

tradition of Emotive songs, devotional songs, patriotic songs, folk songs, Natya

geet. 12 students participated in it.

4. Poetry writing competition " काव्यपूर्ती( Kavya- poorti )" was organized in month

of November, 2018. Students were supposed to write self- composed poem

based on first line of a famous poem by bahinabai - "अरे मानसा मानसा, कधी

व्हशीन मानूस" . 7 studnts participated in it.

5. Illustration competition based on syllabus of Marathi from 11th to T.Y.BA. , was organized in the month of December , 2018 . 6 students participated in it.

6. Marathi Bhasha Sanvardhan Pandharvada was celebrated to salute state

language , preserve and develop its rich heritage and tradition .Following programs were organized : A. A movie “ Dusari Goshta” was screened on 5th Jan, 2019 . The movie was

based on autobiographical account by Mr.Susheelkumar Shinde, prescribed in the syllabus of F.Y.B.A.21 Students participated.

B. Exhibition of Marathi books in the library was organized in collaboration with Library on 5th Jan, 2019. 40 students and 10 staff members visited the exhibition.

C. A program “Paathyasakhaa” was organized based on linguistic skills of interview techniques included in syllabus of T.Y.B.A. and soft skill of recitation, on 10th Jan, 2019. 170 students participated. 10 students interviewed the chief guest Mr. Sachin Jagdale , an eminent journalist , writer and alumni of college and he illustrated recitation techniques by reciting short story.

D. A program “Pustakgappaa”- book appreciation by teachers, was organized on 11th Jan, 2019. 10 teachers participated in it. This program is to motivate the reading habit among students. 34 students attended the program.

E. A poetry recitation competition “ malaa Aavadalelee Kavitaa” was organized on 11th Jan, 2019. 34 students participated in it and recited poems of well-known poets on various subjects ranging from nature , environment concern and social issues of women empowerment and equality .

F. An essay competition was organized on the topic “Malaa Aavadalelaa lekhak /kavee”. 14 participated in it.

G. In the view of celebrating birth centenary of the eminent writers in Marathi G.M. Maadgulkar , Arvind Gokhale , P.L. Deshpande students displayed articles appreciating literature by these writers on ‘Aavishkaar’ wall paper.

7. Late Shri. Jugaldas Damodar Modi Inter-collegiate Marathi Elocution Competition was organized on 25th Jan, 2019. 19 participants from 14 colleges

participated in it. Topics were as follows : “मला उमगलेले पु.ल. देशपाांडे” , “भेदाचे

राजकारण आणण समाजमाध्यमे” , “स्त्रीसक्षमीकरणाच्या चळवळी- गरज आह ेसमतोल

णवचाराची”. A well known Journalist Chhaya Thorat , Dr. Sucheta Gokhale were

judges for the said competition.

8. Jaagtik Marathi Bhasha Divas was celebrated on 27th Feb, 2019. Marathi

Abhiman Geet was played in order to salute state language as per govt orders.

A. As per directives and suggestions given by State Government Idioms and phrases was main theme of this year’s celebrations. In accordance with it, a competition to write short story based on given Idioms and phrases .9 students participated in it.

B. An essay competition was organized on the topic “मातभृाषा संवर्धन : माझी जबाबदारी” 12 students participated in it.

C. A program “Smaranyaatri ” was presented by the students to commemorate birth centenary of the eminent writers in Marathi G.M. Maadgulkar , Arvind Gokhale , P.L. Deshpande .Students recited their short stories.

D. A manuscript “रसास्वाद : शताब्दी ववशेषांक” was released at hands of Teachers .

E. Prof. Deepak Poojary performed a dance in Odissi style based on Marathi poems as a tribute to soldiers . Similarly ,students recited poems to salute martyrs of Pulwama.

Report of activities by Department of Marathi

1. Department Of Marathi Organised "Career Guidance lecture" for TYBA and

SYBA students by alumni student Mrs. Vasumati Todkar on Saturday, 14 July,

2018. She guided the students about careers available for Marathi students

competitive examinations, B.Ed. entrance, Journalism etc. 14 students attended

the lecture.

2. Department of Marathi Organized workshop session for TY BA students on "

Unicode Marathi and its operating in M S Word and MS power- point" on 16 Aug,

2018. The students of Dept of I. T. conducted this workshop. 7 students

attended the workshop.

3. Department of Marathi Organized field visit for TYBA students to Ravindra

Natya Mandir to see theatre, sets, light and music arrangements etc and show

of a play "Hamlet" on 25 Aug, 2018. 7 students were present for the field visit.

4. Maharashtra Times organized discussion session for students “ म.टा. डिबटे – आमची बोली आमची बाणा” on 23rd Feb, 2019. 7 students of R.J. college and 5

students from other colleges participated. Two budding play writes were invited as panel experts. Marathi Department facilitated the organization of program.
