EAB’s Mandate

The IEEE Educational Activities Board (EAB) shall:

Recommend to the Board of Directors policies on educational matters

Implement programs specifically intended to serve and benefit IEEE members in educational pursuits

And the engineering and scientific community, and the general public

Be the IEEE interface in education-related matters with external bodies

Be responsible for administration of the annual assessment paid to ABET, Inc.

Yvonne Pelham has been promoted to Manager, Educational Outreach

Chuck Hickman, Director, University Programs joined IEEE in April

Two positions we are working to fill: Educational Outreach Program Manager Program Manager, Continuing Education

Purpose: to conduct a strategic assessment of the identified IEEE programs, services and products

The process: To assess current performance, assuming

nothing different will be done Focus is on the “external” needs of

members/customers Focus is on results delivered SPA used a data driven approach Recommendations will move forward to

ExCom and the IEEE BoD

24 programs were identified for review 19 programs were reviewed A program was defined as a product,

service, or set of products and services which are provided or delivered to a specific group of customers/clients/users/members

What are we asking of you? At the 21 April Executive Committee

meeting it was agreed that the OUs with responsibility for the programs assessed should review the SPA retreat results

Provide input and guidance on how we should move forward in the three programs assessed
