- Sample 3D Scanning application for small companies involved in classic car restoration.
The goal was to reconstruct the part of old car’s lamp housing. The car is around 60 years old - there’s no documentation. Looking for another part would take months and there is no guarantee that it would be found.
Application

The part was 3D scanned to digitize the entire geometry.
The reproduction part was to be be sand cast and the foundry declared that material shrinkage is around 2%. The purpose of the scan was to capture the surface data and scale the resulting mesh up by 2%. This file would be 3D printed to be used as a pattern at the foundary.
