Reptiles are one group of animals. There

are two special features that make an animal a

reptile. Those two features are bodies covered in

scales and having a cold-blooded body. Adult reptiles

lay eggs, then baby reptiles will hatch from these

eggs. There are thousands of reptile species alive

today.

Reptiles can be found all over the world,

except for the cold continent of Antarctica. They

have a varied diet that consists of plants, insects,

and other animals.

have a long and slender body, four short legs, a

very long tail, and a head with very powerful jaws.

They can grow up to 19 feet long.

Alligators are very similar to crocodiles, but

they have a shorter head than a crocodile. Both
