Brazil Research Project 2018 Why Brazil? Brazil has a very mixed economy with natural resources in abundance, which also is the largest economy in Latin America. The country is expected to be the world’s fourth largest economy in the coming decades and it has developed agriculture, mining, industry and service sectors. Brazil is increasingly present in foreign financial markets, and is one of the four emerging BRIC countries. The country is very rich in natural resources, as their largest exports are iron ores, crude and refined oils, soy beans, sugar and gold. Especially the agriculture, food production and manufacturing industries are large components of Brazil’s GDP. For the most recent years, Brazil’s increase in competitiveness closes the competitiveness gap with India and China as their main BRIC competitors. Brazil trades mostly with the European Union, the United States, Argentina and Japan. Brazil is one of the thirty largest export markets of the Netherlands. In addition, Brazil is our largest sales market in Latin America. Dutch companies have invested in the country with a total of nearly 14 billion by 2014. In conclusion, due to Brazil’s growth potential and the fact that it is the largest economy in Latin America, Brazil is a very promising country for the FSA Research Project 2018.

Why Brazil?

Since 1994 the FSA Research Project is organized by the Financial Study association Amsterdam (FSA), which is the largest financial study association in the Netherlands. The project will be carried out by 18 highly ambitious and motivated students from the University of Amsterdam and the VU university Amsterdam. The FSA cooperates with a multitude of companies, examples of participating companies in the past are:

ABN AMRO // AEGON // DHL // ING Group // Royal Philips // Shell // Unilever // Greenpeace // Heineken // Rabobank

FSA Research Project 2018

The aim of the FSA Research Project is to provide consultancy services to corporations with a team of 18 student consultants. These high-potential participants are selected for being extremely motivated and for having international, organizational and/or research experience. The team will be dedicated to the acquisition and completion of nine different assignments. During the whole process the students will be trained by a number of leading companies to improve their skills and knowledge, relevant to the project

What do we offer? The FSA Research Project is an excellent opportunity to provide answers to your business questions. We deliver tailor-made professional consultancy services and research reports for companies with international aspirations in emerging countries. As the FSA operates on a non-profit basis, company specific research can be conducted at a competitive price. The quality is guaranteed by years of experience, careful selection of the researchers, seminars from knowledgeable experts and guidance by the best professors the city of Amsterdam has to offer.

Examples of former types of research that have been conducted:• Market and growth strategy analysis• Identification of possible business partners• Distribution and logistics research• Finance or investment opportunities• Outsourcing and offshoring opportunities• Import and export analysis

Before going abroad, thorough desk research will be carried out and maximum preparation will be ensured. Intensive training and guidance about how to conduct research, how to access the Brazilian business market and how to build and maintain relationships with clients are offered to fully prepare the researchers. During the entire process, our advisory board supports us. In July and Augustus 2017, 5 weeks of field research will take place in Brazil. Once the participants have returned to the Netherlands, the gathered data will be processed and the final report will be written. The company will constantly be kept well-informed and updated about the project’s progress. The research results will be presented to the contracted company and, upon request, confidentiality can be guaranteed.
