AUSTRALAND’S vision for a world-class residential marina in Cockburn isone step closer to completion with theofficial opening of Port Coogee’s majoraccess road.

The road links the north and south ofthe 86ha estate and allows people todrive, walk and cycle through the heart ofthe project for the first time.

The opening is the first in a series ofmajor project milestones to roll out overthe next few months and during 2011,including the opening of a protectedpublic beach and the construction of thefirst 80 marina pens.

Australand WA general manager TonyPerrin said travelling through PortCoogee via the new roads would givepeople a true sense of the connectionbetween the land and the water.

“People will get a real taste of what isto come when they see the parks, public

open spaces, the views and thelandscaping, which all contribute to theevolving character and amenity,” he said.

“Finally the community will be able tosee how the vision for a revitalisedwaterfront connected to a vibrant urbanvillage and bustling marina is beingrealised.”

Mr Perrin also said a striking entrystatement to Seaspray Island was due forcompletion by Christmas.

It will include a textured weatheredsteel frame with curved cladding toreflect the bow of the nearby Omeoshipwreck.

The entrance will set the scene for therich maritime theme that will runthroughout the entire estate.

“It’s all about providing visual andphysical links to the water to deliver onthe promise of true marina living,” MrPerrin said. ■
