ProfessionalDevelopmentStateMini-grants2001–2004Authentic Access to theGeneral Education Curriculum -The goal of this seventh - twelfthgrade school-wide project focused on providing teachers with tools from the ContentEnhancement Tool Box to ensure all students learn critical content required in the corecurriculumregardlessofliteracylevels.PhonologicalFun-Thefocusofthisgrantwastoimprovephonologicalawarenessskillsinpre-primary -secondgradestudents through teachereducationandcollaborationwhichwouldresultinreducingthenumberofstudentsreferredforspecialeducation.Thisprojectfocusedonteachereducation,collaboration,actionresearchandteachermadematerials.Content Enhancement Routines – This grant provided teacher training and coaching inthirteen academic interventions aimed at teaching content to diverse groups of students.Instruction included decision making about what content to teach, manipulating andtranslating that content into easy-to-understand formats, and presenting it in memorableways.Reading,YES!-Theprimarygoalofthisprojectwastoimprovethereadingperformanceofstudents in special education kindergarten – fourth grade through the implementation ofresearch-basedbestpractices.MathWorks–ThisgrantprovidedteachertrainingandmaterialstoseveralResourceRoomTeachers.Thegoalwastoimprovemathskillsofstudentsinkindergartenthroughgradeeightthroughtheuseofadiagnosticandprescriptivemathremediationprogram.
