It’s important to know that student attendance is a legal

record that schools are required to report to the state.

Failure to keep children in school can lead to more seri-

ous consequences mandated by the state such as:

• Legal Citation from SRO

• Truancy Court – Multnomah County

• Fines

PARENT COLLABORATION is one of

the most important factors in the

academic success of your student. We

understand that it might not always be

possible to be fully involved so

ATTENDANCE POLICIES

AND PROCEDURES

All students between the ages of 7 and 18, who

have not completed grade 12, are required to

attend school unless otherwise exempted by law.

Students not attending school on a regular basis

will be referred to the school district Attendance

Office along with the county agencies assigned to

keep kids in school. A citation may be issued for

erratic or non-attendance.

PARENT ATTENDANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Read the attendance Policy (Student Rights and

Responsibilities Handbook)

2. Notify the school when your student is absent

by 9am of the day of the absence if possible

3. Notify the school of any changes in address or

phone number.

4. Provide transportation for any assigned after

school detentions.

STAY CONNECTED with your teen

• Find out if your child feels engaged by his classes and feels safe from bullies and other threats.

• Stay on top of your student’s academic progress and seek help from teachers and counselors.

• Stay on top of social contacts and social media. Peer pressure can lead to poor attendance.

• Talk to teachers or counselors if you notice sudden changes in your student’s behavior.

• Sign up for ParentVue and track attendance, grades regularly. Mrs. Deb Colby, ext. 1011.

• Ask for help from school officials.

¿SABIA USTED?
