RHINO Batts insulation for wall applications are stiffened to fi t snugly between standard spacing wall studs – both timber and steel – without sagging and should be installed at the time of construction before fi xing internal lining

CEILINGRHINO Batts glass wool products are manufactured from FBS-1 Glass wool Bio- Soluble Insulation®. FBS-1 Glass wool Bio-Soluble Insulation® is not classifi ed as hazardous according to the criteria of the Australian Safety and Compensation Council (formerly NOHSC), Approved Criteria for Classifying Hazardous Substances (NOHSC: 1008) 3rd Edition. RHINO Batts glass wool is classifi ed as safe to use refer to our MSDS. ®

MOISTURE ABSORPTIONIn the event of RHINO Batts insulation becoming wet, they should be dried prior to installation to obtain maximum performance and prevent damage to other building elements. RHINO Batts insulation absorb less than 0.2% moisture by volume when exposed to environmental conditions of 50°C and 95% relative humidity for four days.

AS1530.1 TEST FOR COMBUSTIBILITY OF MATERIALSTesting conducted by CSIRO in accordance with AS1530 Part 1 concluded that RHINO Batts insulation are non-combustible. The Building Code of Australia (BCA) deemed to satisfy provisions require walls important to the structural integrity of commercial buildings to be constructed wholly of materials that are non-combustible. Fire rated (FRL) walls between tenancies and common walls of multi-level apartment buildings also must be constructed wholly of materials that are non- combustible. The BCA states that if materials used in an assembly contain combustible components, then the assembly is combustible. Incorporating non-combustible RHINO Batts insulation into wall systems allows builders to gain acoustic and thermal benefi ts while still complying with the BCA requirement to maintain structural integrity and for minimising risk to occupants from smoke inhalation and fi re in Class 2 to 9 buildings.

INSTALLATION GUIDELINES

Turn off the power at the fuse box before commencing the installation. Ensure you place a warning tag to prevent power being restored prior to completion of the install. Be aware that your electrical appliances will not be operatinal during this time. Use only RHINO Partition insulation, recommended according to the type of thickness of the stud.

• Curved blade knife with plastic handle (non-conductive handle)

• For high density batts a serrated knife with a plastic handle is recommended

• Knife holster to quickly access the knife

• Friction fi t the insulation into the wall frames ensuring there are no gaps between the insulation and studs or noggins.

• It is important that the insulation is secured so it cannot fall into the cavity or come in contact with the outer brickwork allowing moisture to pass from the exterior wall to the internal lining.

• Wall wrap or long lasting string/twine should be fi xed across the exterior face of the frame before installing the insulation from the inside.

• Where string/twine is used, twine should be fi xed between each set of studs from the top to the bottom, running parallel with the studs. Where two lengths are used they should be evenly spaced.

• Ensure that the batts do not protrude past the stud and fi t snugly including where insulation is around water pipes or other rigid obstructions in the wall.

• A breather (low vapour barrier) wall wrap or building paper must be used so as not to cause moisture build up.

• Butt the insulation closely together to ensure there are no gaps left at joints.• Offcuts may be used to fi ll small spaces to ensure complete coverage.

• Friction fi t the Insulation into the wall frames ensuring there are no gaps between the insulation and studs or noggins.

• Ensure that the batts do not protrude past the stud and fi t snugly.

• RHINO Partition insulation is not recommended for use in cavity brick construction.

THERMAL INSULATION WITH CONDENSATION CONTROLRhino Blanket combines the thermal effi ciency of spun glass fi bre with a laminate of refl ective foil which not only further enhances the thermal effi ciency of the system but also serves to act as a dust and moisture barrier.

DESCRIPTION - Rhino Blanket is intended for both thermal and acoustical applications. It is made from highly resilient, inorganic glass fi bres.

SPECIFICATION COMPLIANCE - AS/NZS 4859.1: 2002 Materials used in the Thermal Insulation of Buildings and complies with the Building Code of Australia (BCA) requirements.

BIO-SOLUBILITY - Rhino Blanket rolls are manufactured from bio-soluble fi bres. Bio-soluble fi bres have been extensively researched and shown to pose no long term health risk.

APPLICATION - Designed for application under metal, fi bre cement, and concrete roof cladding Rhino Blanket eliminates the problems associated with condensation build up on the underside of the roof cladding. The refl ective foil face faces down toward the air space under the roof and prevents airborne moisture from reaching the surface of the roof cladding.

Rhino Blanket also performs as an acoustic insulative barrier. It reduces noise from outside the home, such as rain and from within the home by absorbing reverberant noise. Rhino Blanket’s bulk insulation blanket is made from non-combustible fi bres and meets the BAL requirement for metal clad roofs in bushfi re areas.

FACING OPTIONS - The Duty Rating, Colour and Material Finish used to face Rhino Blanket can be varied to suit your application. Details upon request.

RHINO WHITE POLYESTER SOUND BATTS & ROLLS

APPLICATIONSRHINO WHITE SOUND BATTS & ROLLS is ideally suited for use in timber framed walls and mid-fl oor cavitites for reducing airborne sound transfer. RHINO WHITE SOUND BATTS & ROLLS reduces resonating noise in the construction cavity thereby reducing the sound energy transferred from one side to the other. Further improvements can be achieved by using acoustically rated plasterboard, multiple layers of plasterboard, or by isolating the plasterboard from the stud. The Building Code of Australia (BCA) sets out minimum performance ratings for inter-tenancy walls and fl oor-ceiling construction. The performance of a construction system relies on the design, materials and installation. Acoustic design for BCA compliance requires specialist design considerations. For information and assistance please contact your THOR BUILDING PRODUCTS Representative.

PERFORMANCEBuilding Regulations: RHINO WHITE INsulation will support and assist in meeting the following provisions of the BCA: BCA Volume One - Class 2-9 Buildings, Section J - Energy Effi ciency: Performance requirement JP1 BCA Volume One - Class 2-3 and 9c Buildings, Section F - Health and Amenity: Sound Transmission and INsulation. Performance requirement FP5.1, FP5.2, FP5.4 and FP 5.5. BCA Volume Two - Class 1 and Class 10 Buildings, Part 2.6 - Energy Effi ciency: Performance requirement P2.6.1 Part 3.8.6 - Health and Amenity, Sound Insulation: Performance requirements P2.4.6

Acoustic Performance - Rw is the industry accepted means of determining a material or assembly’s ability to resist airborne sound transfer. A higher Rw rating blocks more noise from transmitting through a construction system. RHINO Thermal Insulation will assist in reducing the resonating noise inside the construction cavity. Typical improvement in sound transmission loss through walls with the use of RHINO WHITE SOUND BATTS & ROLLS is ans increase of 5-8 Rw points, effectively reducing loud voices to a slight murmur. Typical improvement in sound transmission loss through a common residential mid-fl oor construction with the use of RHINO WHITE SOUND BATTS & ROLLS is an increase of 5-7 Rw points.

Thermal Performance - RHINO WHITE Insulation complies with the requirements as set out in AS/NZS4859.1 standard for insulation. For increased thermal performance options, Autex recommends the use of the RHINO Thermal Insulation range.

TECHNICAL Durability: RHINO WHITE Insulation has a 50 Year Durability Warranty. RHINO WHITE thermal insulation when installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions will satisfy the 50 year durability criteria for minimum design life as set out in the ABCB guidance document Durability in Buildings 2006 (Section 2.4).

RHINO WHITE COMMERCIAL PARTITION BLANKETRHINO WHITE COMMERCIAL PARTITION BLANKET is an acoustic infi ll insulation designed to meet the standard industry weight based requirements of many common referenced RW rated partition wall and ceiling systems. RHINO WHITE COMMERCIAL PARTITION BLANKET is supplied standard in either 11 or 14kgm3 and ranged in thickness’s to suit the specifi ed stud depth and acoustic rating. To ensure optimal performance it is recommended to match the product thickness as closely as possible to the stud depth. RHINO WHITE COMMERCIAL PARTITION BLANKET is supplied in roll form to allow fast and effi cient installation of the product helping minimise material and labour costs. Being 100% polyester it is non toxic and completely safe for the installer and building occupiers.

HIGH PERFORMANCE INFILLRHINO WHITE PERFORMANCE INFlLL is a range of acoustic insulation specifi cally engineered to max-imise the acoustic performance of partition wall and ceiling systems. RHINO WHITE PERFORMANCE INFILL improves the acoustic separation by reducing noise intrusion and increasing sound privacy be-tween spaces. HPI should be used where optimal acoustic performance is required. Manufactured from 100% polyester RHINO WHITE PERFORMANCE IN FILL is completely safe for installer and building occupiers and has no known health hazards.

ON-SITE INFORMATIONRHINO WHITE Partition & Acoustic Blankets products are compression packed to minimize transportation costs and ease on-site storage and handling. Prior to use the packs should be opened to allow recovery of the insulation loft. Product recovery to the stated nominal thickness may be slowed by low temperatures and extended periods of storage in compressed packaging. Installing product at less than the stated nominal thickness does not hinder long-term acoustic performance. These products are proven to recover in-situ over time. The RHINO WHITE Partition & Acoustic Blankets range is blue colour tinted to provide easy Identifi cation on site. If RHINO WHITE Partition & Acoustic Blankets products have been specifi ed and the insulation material is not blue tinted, it is not a RHINO WHITE Partition & Acoustic Blankets and instructions should be issued to cease Installation until the correct specifi ed material is supplied. Equivalent weight and thickness products may not provide equivalent acoustic performance as small changes to fi bre size, blend and fi bre bonding effect the products performance. Acoustic insulation should be installed with no gaps. Where required, drops

RHINO WHITE SOUND BAFFLEfor acoustic applications

APPLICATIONSRHINO WHITE SOUND BAFFLE is designed for use above new or existing RW rated partition walls to enhance the acoustic privacy between spaces.

APPLICATION CONSIDERATIONSRHINO WHITE SOUND BAFFLE must be installed with at least enough compression to ensure stack stability and a tight fi t to all surfaces including concrete slab, ceiling or the fl oor above. No gaps to be allowed through the stack.

RHINO WHITE SOUND BAFFLE can be installed to a height of 1m without specialist design considerations. Above this height consideration must be given to the stack stability and weight loading restrictions on the ceiling tiles and grid system. Other options are available for plenum heights above 1m.

Where the ceiling plenum is used as an active return for the air conditioning system, ensure air fl ow is not signifi cantly reduced. Thor Building Products recommends you consult the Mechanical Services Engineer to ensure the use of RHINO WHITE SOUND BAFFLE will not result in a loss of effect air movement.

Existing services, ducting, ceiling grid supports and fi re control and detection devices must not be affected by the installation. RHINO WHITE SOUND BAFFLE should not be used where temperatures exceed 160oC. Where fl ues or similar heat emitting items pass through the insulation, a 200mm venting gap should be left between that item and the insulation. For more information please discuss your requirements with your Rhino Representative.

TECHNICALBCA Compliance: RHINO WHITE lnsulation when Installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions will satisfy the 50 year durability criteria for minimum design life as set out in the ABCB guidance document Durability in Buildings 2006 (Section 2.4).

Durability: RHINO WHITE SOUND BAFFLE Insulation has a 50 Year Durability Warranty.

Moisture: RHINO WHITE Insulation is not affected by moisture. Exposure to an atmosphere of 50oC at 90% relative humidity for four days showed moisture absorption by weight of less than 0.03%.

Hazardous Building Materials: non-hazardous.

VOC Emission Safe: VOC concentration: 0.01 mg/m3 (7 days). GECA/ Green Guard Limit: 0.25 mg/m3 (7 days). cetec Pty Ltd (Report: RCV080408)

Non-Flammable: non-fl ammable.

Non-Toxic, Non-Allergenic, Non-Irritant: There are no known hazards with the use or handling of RHINO WHITE polyester.

Vermin: RHINO WHITE Insulation is naturally resistant to insect and vermin attack

Installation: RHINO WHITE Insulation should be installed as a layer stack above RW rated partition walls. RHINO WHITE Insulation must be Installed with enough compression to ensure stack stability and a tight fi t to all surfaces including slab, roof or fl oor above. No gaps to be allowed through the stack and small pieces should be used to fi ll around ducting, services and structural components. Consult with the HVAC Installer/Engineer prior to commencing to ensure no loss of effective air movement to the active return of the air conditioning system.

RHINO PIR BOARD

RHINO PIR BOARDRhino PIR Board is an Australian made and tested prefabricated heat insulating elements for a variety of applications in the building and domestic industry, which consists of fl exible cover sheets connected with a high bond to a cored polyisocyanurate foam. The cover sheets can be made of different materials, such as aluminium foil, mineral and glass fl eeces and paper. The boards are available in thicknesses between 25 to 150 mm and lengths up to 10 meters. The polyisocyanuratefoam, a three-dimensionally networked thermoset, is made from synthetic polymers, which are combined with a CFC-and HCFC free blowing agent (zero CCP) in an expansion process to form microscopic cells throughout the material. Our laminates offer a combination of structural properties and capacities of cost-effective system building and energy conservation at minimal weight along with low water absorption, thermal and acoustic insulation and good chemical resistance at good aging stability.

Rhino PIR Board sets a new standard in PIR insulation system as it offers a more cost effective, high performance, zero -ozone depleting PIR insulated solution. Rhino PIR Board is available with facings of, bright silver foil, craft paper and white fi breglass fi nish. Rhino PIR Board has great thermal properties which will save energy for heating, cooling and lighting. Its acoustic properties will also help in reducing noise. Rhino PIR Board is available in thicknesses of 25mm through to 100mm in 5mm increments.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION AND TYPICAL APPLICATIONSRhino’s Pipe Acoustic Lagging is recomended for reducing noise generated by rainwater, soil or waste pipes. It is typically used to wrap PVC or metal pipes in residential or multi-residential buidlings, as well as in commercial buildings such as cinemas, auditoriums and concert halls. Pipe Acoustic Lagging is a combination of a loaded polymer barrier adhered to convoluted acoustic foam with an outer layer of Aluminium Foil Tri-Laminate.

Pipe Acoustic Lagging addresses the Building Code of Australia (Part F5) requirements that the sound insulation performance fl oors and walls in Class 2 and 3 multi-residential buildings shall not be adversely affected by pipe or service penetrations.

The BCA recognises the common problem of noise intrusion from waste pipes and specifi es minimum standards of noise separateion between such pipes and habitable room spaces (bedrooms, lounges, dining and family rooms) and non habitable room spaces (bathrooms, kitchens and laundries).

In these cases, Pipe Acoustic Lagging must be applied to pipes adjacent to ceiling penetrations such as air conditioning ducts, vents, downlights and exhaust fans. Pipe Acoustic Lagging correctly installed within a ‘deemed to satisfy’ construction, meets these requirements.

Pipe Acoustic Lagging exhibits the following characteristics when tested in accordance with AS1530.3

Operating temperature (maximum continuous) 80°COperating temperature (maximum intermittent) 100°C

Pipe Acoustic Lagging can be cut from rolls to fi t the required PVC waste pipe diameter. All butt joins must be taped. Reinforced aluminium foil tape is recommended for this application. Reinforced aluminium foil tape must be a minimum of 48mm in width and preferably 72mm wide. As well as taping all longitudinal and circumferential joins, it is recomemended that a band of tape be applied midway along each section to overcome sagging and to ensure Pipe Acoustic Lagging is held in close contact with the pipe. Pipe Acoustic Lagging is easily cut with a sharp knife.

CLEAR SEALERS – HIGH SOLIDS PREPARATION & APPLICATION GUIDE

SURFACE PREPARATION• All surfaces must be clean – all contaminants including dirt, dust, grease, oil, curing compounds, cement laitance, airborne pollutants,

mildew, mould etc must be removed using compatible chemical cleaning product and / or mechanical process. If surfaces are not clean, sealer adhesion and fi nal fi nish will be compromised. Poor surface adhesion may lead to delamination of the sealer, indicated by surface whitening / fl aking or peeling of the coating.

• If surface has been ground – all dust and laitance must be removed by vacuum and pressure wash / wet vac.• If acid etching has taken place, acid must be neutralised before sealer is applied. If neutralisation does not take place, acid will

continue to attack and weaken the substrate surface. This will compromise the adhesive strength of the sealer. Residual acid may also “shock” sealer resins, delivering a white powdery fi nish to water based sealers and an uneven blotchy fi nish to solvent based sealers. Acid neutralisation may be achieved by treating the area with a 500g bicarbonate of soda: 9L water solution, followed by a pressure wash.

• All surfaces must be sound – although clear sealers will bind surfaces to a certain extent, they are not engineered for use as surface hardeners. Both new and old concrete surfaces will exhibit varying degrees of porosity. High porosity areas will absorb sealer more readily, resulting in a dull appearance. Additional coats of sealer will deliver a uniform fi nish in these situations.

• All surfaces must be dry – a moisture test is required 100% of the time to ascertain if the substrate is dry enough to seal. Electronic moisture meters are recommended, however a simple test may be performed as per below.

• Simple moisture test - place a 300 x 300 mm piece of black plastic / rubber mat on the area to be sealed at the hottest part of the day. Leave for 2 hours and remove, if any condensation is present on the under-side of the plastic, or the substrate has darkened, then it is too wet to seal. Be patient, allow to dry further and repeat test until no moisture is detected.

• If area has been previously sealed, ensure that this coating is compatible with the sealer to be used. If sealer application is recoating existing compatible sealer, ensure that fi nal fi lm thickness achieved does not compromise the breathability of the substrate. If in doubt, remove existing sealer chemically or mechanically.

Important Note: If concrete slab has been ground, the heat generated will expel moisture. If the slab is outside and left overnight, as it cools it will act like a sponge and absorb moisture from the damp night air. If the slab is then sealer too early the following day, before the moisture has had the opportunity to leave again, blistering may occur. It is

recommended that an open slab be left until at least midday in good drying conditions to allow it to breathe out before applying the fi rst coat of sealer.

SEALER APPLICATION• Correct sealer should be chosen that delivers the required performance and breathability characteristics suitable to the substrate.• A trial patch is always recommended to ensure fi nal fi nish and performance characteristics are as required.• Sealer should only be applied as per recommended coverage rates. Not enough sealer and performance will be compromised. Too

much sealer and substrate breathability will be compromised and moisture / adhesion issues may be experienced.• Do not thin sealer with any solvent other than recommended compatible product. Different solvents have different fl ash points, which

can compromise sealer cure and performance characteristics. For example, sealer solvent fl ash point is 46 c, Xylene fl ash point is 26 c.• Do not park a motor vehicle on sealer surfaces, using appropriate sealer, for 7 days.• Remember – less is more! You can always add another coat; it’s much harder to remove if there is too much.

WHEN TO SEAL• Only when substrate is completely dry.• It is recommended that sealer is applied late morning to early afternoon – after substrate moisture has been released and dew point

has been exceeded.• Do not seal if surface / ambient temperature is too high, carrier solvent will evaporate too quickly and not allow resins / polymers to

coalesce at the correct rate.• Do not seal if rain is expected during initial cure time.• Do not seal if humidity is too high (>85%), or likely to be during the initial cure phase. Dew points also need to be considered.• Do not seal if surface / ambient temperature is too low (<10C) as carrier solvent will not evaporate and allow resins / polymers to

coalesce at the correct rate also do no seal if the surface / ambient temperature is too high (>35C). However direct sun, time of day, temperature increase / decrease etc. must still be a consideration.

• Weather details may be checked on the following website: http://www.bom.gov.au/climate/data/index.shtml?

MOISTURE RELATED ISSUES• Sealer coating bubbles / blisters – if excessive substrate moisture is present, this will try and leave the surface as increasing

atmospheric temperatures open substrate pores and draw moisture up. If sealer coating is yet to fully cure, and is still in a plastic state, moisture will be trapped under the coating and expand causing blisters. This situation is more common when using premium high solids sealers than lower solids equivalents.

• Sealer clouding – substrate moisture may become trapped within the sealer coating as it cures, exhibited by a white cloudy appearance.

• Sealer delamination – substrate moisture will retard sealer ability to penetrate and bond to the surface. The passage of moisture may then delaminate the sealer from the surface, resulting in a white appearance (caused by thousands of tiny cracks in the surface) of fl aking / peeling sealer.

Page 52: rhino range by thor building 2016

2

by RHINO INDUSTRIAL COATING SOLUTIONS

Problem Solution

Cloudy/milky surface appearance Ensure moisture issue has been rectifi ed.

For solvent based sealers - apply liberal coat of compatible solvent, leave to react and agitate effected areas. Solvent will re-emulsify / open up the sealer enough for the trapped moisture to be released. As solvent evaporates, sealer fi lm will cure as normal.

For water based sealers, removal and reapplication is required.

Bubbles/blisters For large blisters - ensure moisture issue has been rectifi ed.

For solvent based sealers - apply liberal coat of solvent, leave to react and re-emulsify sealer in effected areas. Rework sealer to dissolve blisters and allow to cure as normal.

Ensure blisters are not caused by the presence of existing incompatible sealers. If so, remove totally and re-apply.

Note: over-rolling during application may also trap small bubbles in the sealer coating.

For water based sealers, removal and reapplication is required.

Overlap lines Usually caused by application of insuffi cient fi lm thickness or poor surface preparation where dust etc may be concentrated in lines by application tools.

For solvent based sealers - if due to insuffi cient sealer, apply additional coat of sealer at correct fi lm thickness.

If due to contaminants, removal and reapplication is required.

For water based sealers, removal and reapplication is required.

Inconsistent sheen level Usually caused by inconsistent substrate porosity or standard of preparation.

Apply additional coat of sealer at correct fi lm thickness.

Delamination in between coats Usually caused by application of sealer over a non-compatible existing coating, or contamination between coats by dust, moisture etc.

Remove sealer totally and re-apply.

Delamination from substrate Usually caused by poor surface preparation, or when moisture is present in substrate during sealer application.

May also be caused if the substrate is in a poor condition / friable. A densifi er may be required before re-sealing.

Remove sealer totally and re-apply.

CONCRETE SEALER ENHANCE PENETRATINGConcrete Sealer & TintTesting Approvals N/A

Description

Concrete Sealer - Enhance Penetrating is a complex blend of Silane/Siloxane technologies which results in a sealer thatpenetrates deep into masonry surfaces and impedes the passage of moisture providing long-term protection to substrates againstwater penetration. Concrete Sealer - Enhance Penetrating reacts with soluble salts in cementitious surfaces to block capillarieswhilst still allowing the substrate to release retained moisture (“breathe”).

Features & Benefi ts

• Invisible protection• Reduces ingress of water and minimises effl orescence

through its reaction with soluble salts and its water repellence.

• Excellent fungal and algal resistance• Long term U.V. resistance• Treated surfaces are easier to clean• Allows substrates to breathe

Areas of Use

Application Guide

Surface Preparation• Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry and free of contaminants.• Any white effl orescence salts must be removed by either dry brushing with a stiff bristle brush or treatment with Crommelin

Effl orescence Remover. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and allow to dry.• Ensure surface is dry by either testing with a moisture meter or by placing a square metre sheet of black plastic on an area most

likely to be damp. Place into position as sun gains heat and remove as sun loses heat. If condensation appears on plastic, do not apply product. Repeat until no condensation appears.

Application Procedure and Equipment• Application equipment should be by airless spray or for small areas a roller suitable for solvent borne products.• Whilst substrate must be saturated, do not allow the liquid product to sit on any surface. If it does not penetrate, spread surplus

with a brush until saturated into surface. • 1st coat – apply and allow to dry.• Apply 2nd coat when the fi rst is suffi ciently dry (to touch).

Application Guide

GENERAL INFORMATIONMoisture Vapor Emissions PrecautionsAll interior concrete fl oors not poured over an effective moisture vapor retarder are subject to possible moisture vapor transmission that may lead to blistering and failure of the coating system. It is the coating applicator’s responsibility to conduct relative humidity probe testing to determine if excessive levels of vapor emissions are present before applying any coatings. Rhino Industrial Coating Solutions will not be held responsible for coating failures due to undetected moisture vapor emissions.

Surface PreparationConcrete must be cured 30 days and be clean, structurally sound, and free of wax, loose paint or curing compounds. Concrete should be diamond ground to achieve a minimum 125 micron profi le. If more than one coat is required, due to surface profi le or porosity , and more than 12 hours has elapsed between coats on the coating cannot be indented with a fi ngernail, abrade coat 1 with 80-100 grit sandpaper or screen to ensure intercoat adhesion.

Mixing InstructionsAdd the entire contents of Part B to the Part A bucket. (The mixing ratio is 1 part a to 1 part B by weight or volume)

Mix for 1 full minute using slow speed drill, scraping the bottom and sides of the mixing container. Mix only the amount witch can be applied within 20 minutes.

If additional Thor Concrete Sealer Thinners is used, this is to be added after part A and part B has been mixed together. Do not add more thinners, or other solvents than recommended.

Application Recommendations Thor Super Gloss may be applied by lint free micro-fi ber roller or lamb’s wool applicator. It is vital that all applicators are lint and dust free, preventing contamination of the coating and adversely affecting the fi nal fi nish. Due to short pot life, it is advised to change applicators every hour.

On large jobs, the applicator should wear spiked shores to walk on the wet material Application should take place immediately after mixing. A wet edge must be maintained during application Application rate must be greater than 1.8m2/L (4500 micron), and puddling of material must be avoided. Thick fi lms may entrap solvent or cause CO² bubbles that will appear as frosted areas.

Protect from water, moisture vapor and air borne contaminants including dust during the curing process.

Precautions

• Use only with adequate ventilation/ or a cartridge type respirator designed to be used for organic vapour. Avoid contact with the skin, wear protective gloves and glasses. Read Material Safety Data Sheet before using.

• Various State OH&S regulations and the Building Code of Australia include requirements for safe design in buildings. One aspect of this is slip resistance and Rhino Industrial Coating Solutions recommend having slip resistance measurements performed on a trial area of the fl oor being coated if slip resistance is a factor in specifi cation.

• Do not apply to surfaces that are below 10°C or when relative humidity is above 85%.• Poor Mixing or inaccurate mixing ratios will result in variable cure and less than optimum hardness.

Cleaning

• Clean equipment with Thor Concrete Sealer Thinners after use and before cure.

Application Guide

Surface Preparation• Concrete surfaces should be free from grease and oil – if necessary, clean with industrial grade degreaser or apply a poultice.• Steps must be taken to remove laitance. This is best carried out by using either mechanical abrasion or acid etching. Upon

completion of etching, neutralize, rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.

Application Recommendations• Mix Parts 1 and 2 separably fi rst.• Do not mix more product than will be used in 40 minutes as curing will occur but not appear obvious.

NOTE: Recommended at 25 C and 50% relative humidity. An increase in temperature will reduce the amount of product to be mixed. A decrease in temperature will increase the amount of product that can be mixed.

• Mix equal parts by volume of Part 1 and Part 2 together thoroughly. It is strongly suggested to use a mixing drill and mixing blade. Mix for at least 3-7 minutes

• Apply to roller, brush or airless spray.• When changing from on mix to a new mix, clean out the mixing bucket and roller tray. Old mixture will contaminate the new mix.

Roller covers must be cleaned or replaced. It is important that the old mixture does not contaminate the new mix.• To provide a light profi le slip resistant fi nish add Thor Slip Resistant Additive to mixed Waterborne Epoxy Sealer at a rate to

achieve the desired fi nish.• To achieve the desired slip resistant profi le, broadcast the appropriate dry graded aggregate into the wet 1st coat and allow to

dry. Remove excess aggregate and over coat with 2nd coat.

Precautions

• Do not apply to surfaces that are temperature below 10oC or when relative humidity is above 85%.• Poor mixing or inaccurate mixing ratios will result in a variable cure and less than optimum hardness• Do not apply solvent base adhesives or sealants before Waterborne Epoxy Sealer is hard dry.

Cleaning & Maintenance

• Clean equipment with Thor Concrete Sealer Thinners.
