framework of Guntur Municipal Corporation Via this
newsletter which has been innovatively designed for the benefit
of our citizens. We at Guntur Municipal Corporation aim to
provide services to the residents of Guntur city in an efficient
and user friendly manner and reduction of inconveniences
caused to the public. We want to perform moving along with all
the stake-holders to create a synergy of hope.

Housing for All
In India 2 million urban poor will be provided houses in the scheme “Pradhan Mantri Awas
Yojana". GMC commissioner reviewed this scheme implementation on 2nd August, 2016.
IN the review Commissioner Nagalakshmi with the details of availability of land in slums,
land status, G+2 house model, and other things, instructed GMC officials for further
planning. Shilanyas Designer company representatives explained about hoses models which
are very successful in India.
In this "housing for all" programme, Swarna Bharathi Nagar in Guntur urban limits will be
taken as a pilot and plans will be made accordingly. Slum details, availability of land,
registration charges, building permission fees of this area will be sent to the designing
company for further procedure.
Swachha Sarvekshan
Central and state governments are giving top most priority to clean environment and clean
cities. In this connection a proposal of
prohibiting open urinals in Guntur
district. By 2nd October City will be
declared as "open defecation free" and
the programme is under process. On
27th of August a review has been
conducted by GMC commissioner. In
the programme commissioner reviewed
the progress of public toilets
construction in Guntur city limits.
Commissioner said that by September
10th all the toilets that are constructed
under Swachha Bharat to be geo-tagged.

Regarding this programme Ho`nble Cabinet minister for urban development Sri. Venkayya
Naidu conducted a video conference with municipal commissioners of Guntur district in
Guntur collector office on 6th of this august. In the conference, Sri. Venkayya Naidu said that
in February, 2016 rankings have been given by conducting Swachha survekshan programme
in 73 towns. From January 2017 towns containing population more than 1 lakh will be ranked
and commissioner should take initiative for a better ranking, he added. As a part of this
programme, district resource persons were trained on Swachha Survekshan Programme.
PRAKASAM PANTHULU JAYANTHI
Tanguturi Prakasam Panthulu Jayanthi celebrations held in GMC council hall on 23rd
August. Addl. Commissioner and other officials garlanded Prakasam Panthulu photograph. In
the programme Adnl.commissioner Krishna Kaparthi said that Prakasam Panthulu, facing
British guns had played a crucial role in independence fight. Even though Prakasam is from
a poor family, facing many struggles he completed his education and elected as a president
for Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation in 1901. After completing his Baristership in
England, he initiated "Swarajya" Patrika and started fighting against British. Everybody
should take Praksam Panthulu as an idea, Krishna Kaparthi concluded.

PROHIBITION OF PLASTIC
As per plastic waste management rules, poly bags under the thickness of 50 microns should
only be used and they should used before 2 years of manufacturing date. Otherwise these
poly bags will stop plants growing and when these bags are consumed by cattle, they will be
severely got sick and in some time
they even will die. Keeping this in
view GMC conducted awareness
programme on 12th of august. In the
programme wall posters for creating
awareness released by GMC
commissioner. Owners of polybags
wending shops, road side food stalls,
hotels, tea-stalls, curry points should
be awarded of this issue,
commissioner ordered. Carry bags
should contain the label of
manufacturers, and the PWM rules
2016 should be implemented strictly,
she added.
SMART ENVIRONMENT
Modern machinery that gives fresh
environment was being inspected by
GMC. This machinery was made by
Smart enviro-systems and was being
displayed in Gandhi park in guntur city.
With this machine we can covert staled
fruits, vegetable, coconuts, and other
natural things into bio-pesticides.
Commissioner GMC inspected this
machine on 10th august and instructed
for further monitoring.

ADMINISTRATION
GMC is in its way to digitize its administration.
Building plans are being approved online as a part of
this programme. Commissioner GMC inspected
this on line plan approval system on 2nd of
this august. She has gone through the number
of applications, approved applications, and
other details. In the programme
commissioner instructed building inspectors
that instead of approving plans after constructions,
inspectors should cross check every construction
whether its being constructed as per the approved plan or
not. She also said that pre approvals and regular inspections will
make the system regularize.
