PEOPLE-POWERED
TRANSFORMATION
CONTINUES ON CREBS The Crebs Ave. transformation continued on
Saturday June 11th with close to 100 volunteers
on that day - our biggest turnout so far!
Volunteers planted 50 donated trees & over 140
donated drought resistant plants while finishing
laying mulch the entire 1/2 mile stretch between
Vanowen and Sherman Way. We have had over
265 volunteers over 4 weekends making it the
largest volunteer driven project in the city of
Reseda and its impact is truly being felt. One
resident of Crebs gushed, "I have to pinch myself
every morning & evening when I look out my
driveway to realize all this change on Crebs is real.
This is a dream come true!" Bring the family and
take a Summer stroll along the new walking path.
The Reseda Neighborhood Council extends a big
thank you to our volunteers from the LA
Conservation Corps, Discovery House, St.
Catherine of Siena, Valley Vineyard Church, Cub
Scouts Pack #118, Troop 328, Crebs area
neighbors, the RNC Board, Office of Councilman
Dennis P. Zine, & all the Reseda Stakeholders for
their day of hard work.
Special thank you to the generous tree & plant
donations from our local nurseries including West
Hills Nursery on Roscoe, Junior’s Nursery
Wholesale on Saticoy, Exotic Garden Nursery &
Landscape on Victory, Saticoy Nursery in Granada
Hills, Tres Pinos on Sherman Way, & Cardanali
Nursery on Vanowen.
Thank you to the generosity of Starbucks, Carl’s
Jr., El Rancherito Restaurant, Carniceria Corona
Market, Aura's Restaurant, Food4Less, Ralphs,
Vons, Reseda Mobil, & the office of Councilman
Dennis P. Zine, all of whom graciously donated
food & beverages for our volunteers.
We will be back at Crebs in the Fall to plant &
dedicate this walk to our fallen first responders. If
you have beautification ideas in the Reseda
community, contact Juan Guzman at
[email protected]. As a Crebs volunteer
mentioned looking at the beautification, "these
types of transformations make me proud to live in
Reseda!"
LET’S JUMP START RESEDA'S
ECONOMY, SHOP LOCALLY
$25 ON THE 25TH
Reseda is full of great options to take of care of
your daily shopping, eating and service needs.
The Economic Development Committee of the
RNC is launching a new initiative to help jump
start our own economy right here in our own
backyards. We are encouraging every Reseda
stakeholder to spend at least $25 every month on
the 25th within the city of Reseda. Not only will
this help generate revenue for Reseda businesses
during this tough economic time, it will also
return much needed tax revenue for
improvements within our own community. Well-
documented studies show that any money
invested in local communities has a significant
“multiplier effect”, where a large portion of every
dollar spent stays local and is spent again several
times.
It’s said that all boats rise in high tides, so let’s
work together to lift up our local businesses and
spend $25 every 25th in Reseda! We will continue
to highlight great options for dining, shopping and
handling your every day needs without needing to
travel far, as well as incentives and great
discounts to come! For more information, contact
Noelle Guzman at [email protected].
WELCOME NEW BUSINESSES It’s still tough out there, but these businesses
have opted to open their doors in Reseda to serve
our community. We hope that you will welcome
them and try their products or services, and if you
find it to your liking, continue to patronize their
establishments:
Café Sunny Crepes Bee, 17751 Sherman
Way, #5 818-342-9901
Farmers Insurance 18845 Sherman Way #F, 818-

PARTNERSHIP PRODUCES
RESULTS: TREE TRIMMING IN
DOWNTOWN RESEDA
On Saturday June 11th, 120 London Plane Trees
along Sherman Way between Etiwanda Ave. and
Amigo Ave. and on Reseda Blvd. from Valerio St.
to Hart St. were trimmed in response to concerns
of Reseda Businesses. Business owners voiced
their concerns that the overgrown trees reduced
visibility to store signage and many limbs had
fallen into street parking. The Reseda
Neighborhood Council, Councilman Dennis P.
Zine, and Revitalize Reseda partnered together to
fund this extensive tree trimming effort to
continue to invest in our Reseda business
community.

provement project.
The Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles
Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, Los
Angeles Department of Transportation, Metro

asked to avoid the area.

WATER TREATMENT PLANT
SYNOPSIS By Alexi Chidbachian
The reconstruction and rebuilding of the Ad-
vanced Water Treatment Facility on Burbank Blvd
and Victory Blvd and between Woodley Ave and
Sepulveda Blvd is a new upcoming project for the
city of Los Angeles. The LADWP is planning to
renovate the Sepulveda Basin and build the water
treatment plant in a different site. This project is a
must need for our city and in the long run have a
positive effect; but what are its effects on the city
of Reseda? This pricy renovation will be drawn
from local city taxpayers; ceasing money flow to
other already-begun projects. The negative ef-

fects of the renovation could be an increase in
traffic congestion, taxes, and a heavy amount of
pollution; Reseda is already filled with these sub-
stances and we, as Reseda citizens, can’t afford to
increase these effects. However a positive effect
is the availability of water will begin to increase,
making water cheaper. The construction of the
plant makes Reseda citizens question city offi-
cials, to see if they’re making the correct choice
by placing the plant in the most expensive area.
