Please read all instructions before beginning.

Pre-washing recommended for hand dyes only. Pre-washing not recommended for other fabrics.

Yardages and Cutting WOF is 42" width of fabric from selvage edge to selvage edge. LOF is along the length of the fabric, parallel to the

selvage edges.

2 Succulent Rainbow panels • Fussy-cut (29) 7 1/4" squares, keeping the image

centered with each motif.

1 1/2 yard succulent allover print • 6 strips 7 1/4" x WOF for border.

1 3/4 yards dark green hand dye • 2 strips 8 3/4" x WOF; cut into (50) 1 1/4" x 8 3/4"

strips.

• 2 strips 7 1/4" x WOF; cut into (50) 1 1/4" x 7 1/4"

strips.

• 13 strips 1 1/2" x WOF for borders.

1 1/4 yards teal hand dye

• 6 strips 3 1/4" x WOF; cut into (60) 3 1/4" squares,

then cut twice diagonally to make 240 triangles.

• 7 strips 2 1/4" x WOF for binding.

1 1/2 yards white tonal • 4 strips 4 3/4" x WOF; cut into (60) 2 1/2" x 4 3/4"

rectangles.

• 3 strips 2 1/2" x WOF; cut into (36) 2 1/2" squares.

• 6 strips 3 1/4" x WOF; cut into (60) 3 1/4" squares,

then cut twice diagonally to make 240 triangles.

5 yards 42" backing fabric • 2 pieces 86" x WOF

OR

2 1/2 yards wide backing fabric • 1 piece 86" x 86"

Batting • 1 piece 86" x 86"

Piecing the Blocks & Sashing Strips Use a 1/4" seam allowance for all stitching. Press seams as directed.

1. Sew a 1 1/4" x 7 1/4" dark green strip to the right and left sides of each blossom square and 1 1/4" x 8 3/4"

dark green strip to the top and bottom to complete (25) 8 3/4" x 8 3/4" Blossom blocks. {Set aside the (4) extra

blossom squares used in the borders.} Press seams toward the dark green strips.

2. Sew a teal triangle to a white triangle to make a triangle unit. Press seam toward the teal triangle. Repeat to

make 240 triangle units. Join 2 triangle units to complete (1) 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" hourglass unit (Trim if necessary). Press

seam to 1 side. Repeat to make 120 hourglass units.

3. Sew the white edge of an hourglass unit to 1 short end of a 2 1/2" x 4 3/4" white rectangle. Press seam

toward the rectangle. Repeat on the opposite short end to complete a 2 1/2" x 8 3/4" sashing strip. Repeat to make 60

sashing strips.

Completing the Quilt Refer to the exploded quilt diagram throughout the following steps.

1. Stitch 5 Blossom blocks together with 6 sashing strips to make the 8 3/4" x 53 3/4" block row. Press seams

toward the blocks. Repeat to make 5 block rows.

2. Stitch 5 sashing strips alternately together with (6) 2 1/2" white squares to make a 2 1/2" x 53 3/4" sashing

row. Press seams toward the squares. Repeat to make 6 sashing rows.

3. Stitch the block rows together with the sashing rows to complete the 53 3/4" x 53 3/4" quilt center. Press

seams to one side.

4. Sew the 1 1/2" x WOF dark green strips short ends together to make a long strip. Press seams to one side.

Cut into (2) 53 3/4" strips (4) 69 1/4” strips, and (2) 71 1/4" strips. Mark each set of strips carefully. Stitch the

53 3/4" strips to the sides of the quilt center. Press seams toward the strips.

5. Stitch the 7 1/4" x WOF succulent strips short ends together to make a long strip, matching the print at the

seam as much as possible. Press seam to one side. Trim to make (4) 53 3/4" the print borders. Sew one strip to each

side of the quilt center. Press seams toward the strips.

6. Stitch a 1 1/2” x 7 1/4” dark green strip to one edge of a remaining Blossom square (from Step 1 in the first

part of these instructions). Repeat to make (4) Blossom corners.

7. Referencing the Exploded Quilt Diagram, stitch a Blossom corner, a succulent strip border (7 1/4” x 53

3/4”), and a second Blossom corner together to make the top/bottom border. Repeat for the final border. Sew a 1

1/2” x 69 1/4” dark green strip to each long side of each top and bottom borders. Press seam toward the strips.

8. Sew top and bottom borders to the quilt center. Sew the final (2) 1 1/2” x 71 1/4” dark green strips to the

sides of the quilt. Press seams toward the strips.

9. If using 42" backing fabric, remove the selvage edges from the backing pieces. Join the pieces on the long

edges with a 1/2" seam allowance. Press seam open. Trim to make an 86" x 86" backing piece.

10. Layer the top with the backing and batting pieces. Quilt as desired. Trim batting and backing even with the

top.

11. Join the teal hand-dye binding strips on the short ends with diagonal seams to make a long strip. Press seams

in one direction. Press the strip in half along the length with wrong sides together. Bind the quilt edges using your

favorite method to complete the quilt.
