    *Evaluating Existing Equipment*

How do I determine what our situation really is?- A great first step is knowing what you have in house- SYD/RA offers installed base evaluation services- Compare this to the product life cycle stage

    - This is the beginning at looking at an overall strategy for longterm cost controls and superior productivity

While its not as simple as looking at obsolete parts it is an obviousexample toward justification and sense of urgency

    1785-L26BRepair OnlyLast$13,400

    1785-L86BIn rackreplacement$38,100

    1756-L71MigrationOption$5,570

    16KB 100KB 2MB

While we offer best in class repair services as a viable option tomaintain the operational life cycle this still locks you in time for support

    Repair or Replace (Migration)?

    8

Practical Answer:Repair part services is a very cost effective strategy where the commitment to maintain

shelf stock is closely monitored and you have a reliable repair center.

On discontinued or soon to be obsolete parts its really kicking the can down the road

that will create real high drama eventually without a plan in place. (see Murphy's law )The Bottom Line

*If you plan to run the machine application for years to come..*Unless you can afford 1 day to 1 week outages*Dont mind repeating unexpected high service call costs*Have copies of known good programs and resources to get in operation*Have a known obsolete part that will require some engineering to replace*Have 1, 2 or more critical little time bombs that can stop production

You should have started your migration upgrade plan yesterday .

    Silver Series TM

TheSilver Series Program is part of our communicationprogram to help you navigate through the transition phase.

The Silver Date is the forecasted date Rockwell Automation will notaccept orders for new product shipments. After a products SilverDate, it officially enters the Discontinued phase.

The Silver phase is typically a 0 - 24 month timeframe during whichyou can still order new products before they become discontinued.

In some situations, the Silver Series timeframe is shorter, due tocircumstances beyond Rockwell Automations control (e.g., when a

third-party supplier stops making an essential element for a Rockwell Automation product).

    *Understanding Your MigrationOptions*

How do I get this accomplished?- Migrations are not all rip and replace. Phased migration

approach affords the most flexibility with a security blanket- Rockwell Automation has a whole toolbox of hardware and

software migration solutions How do I justify a budget for this?

    - Developing a plan regardless of scale is key to predicting cost versusend goal benefits.

    - Phased migration plans are fit to budget and your paceShow results to justify the next phase

    - Get the right advice and assistance.Schaedler -Yesco, Rockwell Automation and our partners have theexperience to assist you in this process.

Let us help you develop the right migration plan for your company14

    Caution:

Often a the machine builder/OEM will offer upgradepackages. Does this accomplish real modernizationand productivity goals or a band aid?

Get the information on what is being proposed to becertain they are not putting you in another box inreducing parts and maintenance cost goals.

    1756-RIO Module for Phased Migrations

The 1756-RIO provides a Logix solution for communications over RIOKey Features include

Provides one RIO network connection at 57.6K, 115K or 230K baud Acts as a scanner on a remote I/O network Acts as an adapter that exchanges data on a RIO network

Supports native RIO 16-bit words for data, control and status bitsSupports discrete data and block transfers in either modeSupports as many as 10 produced/consumed data with 248input/output words per connectionMaps all discrete and block transfer data into the produced/consumedconnections

This module eliminates the need for any message instructions to implementBlock Transfer Read (BTR) and Block Transfer Write (BTW) on RIO network.

The module is configured with an external configuration software (providedwith the module) and requires activated version of RSLinx.

    Migration Tools: SLC 500 Ethernet/IP Adaptor(1747-AENTR)

    40

The SLC Ethernet Adaptor (1747-AENTR) allows SLC I/O racks to be controlled by anLogix Programmable Automation Controller (PAC): Must be located in the first slot (slot 0) of an SLC rack

Replaces SLC controller in local rack Replaces the existing RIO adaptor (1747-ASB) in remote racks Replaces ControlNet adaptor (1747-ACN15, 1747-ACNR15) in remote racks

Supports SLC 500 extended rack Performance depends on module configuration

Requires RSLogix 5000 v20 or greater Utilizes electronic data sheet add on profile capability in v20

Supports various Ethernet network topologies Device Level Ring (DLR) Star Linear

StepForward incentives available for migrating to AENTR

While providing a way to reuse existing rack I/Oit also sets up the possibility of consolidating

    processors.

EtherNet/IP to DH-485 Gateway - 5201-DFNT-DH485 Helps to connect DH485 network to an EtherNet/IP network. Supports DH485 Master & Salve modes. In Slave mode, the module accepts commands from one or more

Masters to read/write data stored in the module's internal datamemory. In this mode, the ProLinx unit is answering DH-485

commands and has the appearance of an SLC processor to thenetwork In Master mode, the ProLinx DH-485 driver will actively gather data

from other devices on the network, controlling the read/write datatransfer between the gateway and other DH-485 devices, such asSLC processors. Data transfer can be initiated and executed with

other devices without any ladder logic being required in the Rockwell Automation slave hardware
