Ronald McDonald House Charities™ (RMHC) South Africa is a Non Profit Organization that was launched in 2012. RMHC South Africa is part of a global network of RMHC Chapters in 62 countries and regions providing vital services to close to nine (9) million families of seriously ill children every year.

The RMHC mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improves the health and well-being of children in South Africa

Ronald McDonald House (RMH), a core program of RMHC, provides a home away from home for families of seriously ill children treated at a hospital. The first Ronald McDonald House in Africa will be opened at the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital in 2016 for families of children receiving specialized care at the hospital. The House will provide a caring and compassionate haven for families during a stressful period when their child is diagnosed with a serious illness.

We invite you to be a part of this special project.

The RMH is located on the second level of the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital

and will consist of 28 en-suite bedrooms of varying sizes that will accommodate up

to 68 people per night. Families will be steps away from their sick children.

The House will include facilities such as kitchen, dining and living areas with TVs

and refreshments, library/play area for children, laundry room and outdoor area.

The families will live together in the House during the length of the child’s treatment

at the hospital. The House will be operated by staff and volunteers 24 hours a day,

365 days of the year.

Studies show that children cope better and heal faster when their families are by

their side, thus the facilities help mothers to be present and involved in their child’s

treatment and recovery.

Capital Campaign Chairman’s Message RMHC South Africa is privileged to open the first Ronald McDonald House™ in Africa at

the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital, which is one of the legacy

projects of the world’s icon, Madiba.

I urge you, the community, to support RMHC South Africa through donations in order to make this project a reality by bringing families close their sick children. The close proximity of the House to the hospital allows parents direct and immediate access to their sick children.
