Enjoy this unique form of exercise. This is a mixture of martial arts, dance, music, physical activity, and the "Chi" exercise. Traditional Chinese dance brings en-ergy, enjoyment, and well-being to the body while the mind enjoys the harmony of the music; and bringing peace.

Come and join the Chinese Choir which involves the practic-ing of songs in English and Chinese. The Choir also pro-vides its members with a sense of community and friend-ship. It is important for one’s quality of life to have a feeling of belonging with other people. Singing also is physically relaxing, helps to relieve stress and gives a feeling on well-being and helps to keep its members mentally and physi-cally active.

The City of San José is pleased to announce that beginning January 20, 2015, the Senior Nutrition Program at your site will be moving from a catered model to a cook-on-site with our partner, Bateman Senior Meals. Below are some high-lights of the upcoming change:

Arts & Crafts Drawing– Beginning for all ages This class teaches basic to advanced drawing skills, art techniques and vocabulary in a positive and nurturing environment and brings out creativity in each child. There is a new lesson each week. Stu-dents will improve art ability, learn new skills and build self confi-dence and self esteem. All materials are provided.

Music

Piano Keyboard (Beginners) For students with no previous experience. Learn the basics of piano in a fun and positive environment! Access to piano/keyboard at home is essential for progress. Interested in a fun and educational program for your child? This is a great opportunity to meet the teachers and participate in activities such as arts &

crafts, circle time and games!

KINDERPREP @ Roosevelt

This class prepares your child for kindergarten with age-appropriate activities, learning concepts, socialization skills and fun. Your child will gain a basic understanding of shapes, colors and pre-phonics and literacy building (i.e. identifying letter sounds, and writing the alphabet and simple words), as well as number recognition, and counting up to 30. The goal is to have fun, participate and learn. Children must be fully potty trained before the start of class. Requirements for parent attendance, volunteers, snacks, etc. varies by center.

Time For Tots @ Roosevelt

The main focus of Time for Tots is socialization and learning through play. Children have free choice of activities. Some activities may be messy, so wear your grubbies. Only enrolled children may attend. Price includes parent and one child. NO SIBLINGS PLEASE.

LITTLE LEARNERS @ Roosevelt Children will be introduced to socialization, positive self-esteem, following direc-tions and simple learning concepts. Children will work on hand eye coordination, motor skills, and gain independence through the use of circle time, music, songs, stories, play and arts and crafts. Fun For All

Get out and explore! Did you know that there are twenty-four unique trail systems and over 50 miles of trails throughout San Jose? Some may already be in your neighborhood! This is a Saturday walking club directed to-wards teens and young adults with disabilities. Each week, we will meet at the Roosevelt Community Center and travel using public transportation to different trails, museums, fes-tivals and parks in the area. San Jose has a lot to offer its urban dwelling explorers. We'll learn about our unique natu-ral and cultural history while meeting new friends and get-ting a little exercise. Participants must be able to participate in a 1:5 staff to participant ratio and independent with per-sonal care needs. No class May 23rd

Urban Explorers

This class focuses on fun with music, games, arts and crafts, movement activities and a field trip. This play pro-gram is designed for children with developmental disabilities including those with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Children should bring a sack lunch to class each week. These day camps are designed for children with cog-nitive disabilities who need a higher level of staff as-sistance for participation including those with Autism Spectrum disorder. Activities will include arts and crafts, games, circle time, a field trip and more. Chil-dren should bring a sack lunch to camp each day. The Community Room seats up to 250 for seated dinner style and up to 300 assembly style. A single classroom can accommodate up to 49 assembly style and classroom 1 & 2 combined can accommodate up to 98 assembly style.

Staff Cost $20 per hour All rentals require a minimum of one (1) staff member. The number of Staff required will be determined based on the num-ber of guest you are expecting.

Security and Fees: A minimum of one (1) SJPD Officer or Security Guard is required at all events at the Roosevelt Community Center. The number of officers/security guards required depends upon the number of participants and type of event. Our staff will schedule the officer/security guard for the event. SJPD $46.50 per officer/Security Guard $25.00 per security guard Additional Deposit of $500 if Alcohol will be served and two (2) SJPD or Security are required. Please note only Beer, Wine, Sake and Champagne are allowed and Must be

Spring is here! Roosevelt Community Center invites you to our 1st Annual Egg Hunt with a morning full of fun activities, while creating family memories. There will be egg hunts for each age group, a special prize for those who find

the GOLDEN EGG, and children will be able to create holiday-themed Arts & Crafts.
