School Newsletter – 26th SEPTEMBER 2018 Term 3 Week 10
Our solar power has arrived! This week our new 30kw solar power system was installed on the COLA and our hall.
We’re super proud that it’s one of the largest systems on a primary school in the Eastern Suburbs, and we are contributing in a positive way to environmental solutions!
The system will help us: • Power our learning facilities with renewable energy• Cut 20% off our annual energy bill• Produce clean green energy equal to powering 209 school computers each year• Avoid 37 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions - like taking 13 cars off the road each year
It’s a great way for our school to reduce our environmental impact and also educate our students about the benefits of renewable energy.
We’ve been able to go solar with the help of the Solar my School program. This is jointly run by Waverley, Woollahra and Randwick Councils to help schools across the Eastern Suburbs access the benefits of solar power easily. More info: www.solarmyschool.org.au
Thinking about solar at home? You can get obligation-free quotes from selected suppliers via a Council backed program: Call 1300 339 915 or visit www.ourenergyfuture.org.au.

Survey
Rose Bay Public School is once again canvassing perspectives, opinions and ideas from our community using the Partners in Learning Tell Them From Me survey tool. Parents can access the survey by clicking on this link: https://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/rbps2018. The survey will take about 15 minutes to complete.
This parent survey helps to clarify and strengthen the important relationship between parents / carers and the school. We aim to run the survey at this time each year, to help the school identify trends and inform our school priorities. The survey is anonymous. It is available in 22 languages and can be completed on a mobile device or PC. The survey asks parents/carers about their perspectives on the school community feel, participation, support for learning, inclusion, safety, positive behaviours and information sharing.
For more information please visit http://surveys.cese.nsw.gov.au/ttfm-surveys/parent-survey .
The survey window will close on Friday 26th October. Thank you for your participation and continued support of Rose Bay Public School

Congratulations to all PSSA players. Your commitment to training and playing each week shows how hardworking and dedicated you are to achieving your sporting
goals. Coaches noticed improved teamwork and game skills every week. Well done!
“I enjoyed playing PSSA soccer. My team played their best. We came 2nd out of 16 teams!”
Our SRC books stall raised $300 and our proud students presented a cheque to ourvisiting Author and Illustrator Gregg Dreise. Gregg is a very proud ambassador for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation and it was very special for our students to gainan understanding of how our school community can help to bring quality literature to Indigenous students living in remote areas of Australia. We look forward to continuing our school connection with Gregg and the ILF. Last Friday I had the pleasure of presenting to 200 Teacher Librarians from all around NSW at a conference run by the Teachers Federation. My presentation highlighted how ourquality text sets are used in the classrooms to support the learning of our students. Our students’ work samples presented were of a very high standard and a reflection of the hard work by our teachers and students. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the P and C and school community for donating these quality books at our Grandparents, Education Day and Harmony Day book stalls over the past five years. These sets of books are used daily in our classrooms and are a fantastic resource! Ms. Skelton (Teacher Librarian)

Book Week all term
Find your treasure
We are certainly celebrating Book Week all term! On the first day of term our school and Library was decorated with flags and posters for NAIDOC week. Our school community has had the opportunity to reflect on the 45 Years of NAIDOC week posters displayed in our Library with the task to SEE, THINK AND WONDER! This generated some very thoughtful discussions from our students. The outdoor library this term has featured all our collection of books that have an Indigenous perspective
