PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Dear Southerner,
We started the year with the slogan
“Save, Conserve, Recharge”. Our first
Rain Water Harvesng project for the
year was completed at NKT Girls Higher
Secondary School, Triplicane. The
facility consisng of eight wells that will
recharge at least 15 lakh litres of water
per year was handed over to the School
on 29th November 2019. It was a
memorable occasion well aended by
our members, school authories and
students. Thanks to all the donors and
members for supporng this project.
'Caring for Lile Hearts' project under Global Grant 2 was launched last
month. A cheque for Rs 50 lakh, favouring TRF being our club's share in the
contribuon was handed over to District Foundaon Chairman
Rtn. M. Ambalavanan in the presence of members, donors and guests at a
grand event. The project will save the lives of 230 Children and help their
families. Thanks to all donors and some of our members who came in
spontaneously at the last minute to bridge the gap in funding. It once again
displayed the large heartedness of Southerners.
On 17th December, we have our closed door meeng for elecon of office
bearers for RY 2020-21. Advance congratulaons to Rtn Sujeesh, who is
proposed as President and all the office bearers.
We are all geared for the family parcipaon event on 14th December -
Padalam Vango - Musical Nite at The Park. It will also be the occasion to
know more about the Grand Gala Diamond Jubilee celebraon planned
from 27th to 29th February 2020.
I visited Srilanka along with District 3232 team from 21st to 24th Nov 2019
for Dhanvantri Project. It was a memorable occasion which included signing
of sister club agreement with RC Nuwaraeliya. More details are in the
bullen.
The fuel for a Rotary club's success is its membership strength. Last month
we added one member to the RCMS family and we have three more in the
pipeline. Request all to refer more members to keep up our club's vibrancy.
Foundaon contribuon under '2 dollar 2 drops' for polio eradicaon is the
other key area which requires members' aenon.
December is the month of celebraon, happiness and introspecon. It is
also the month of Margazhi musical season, and Christmas gala. Advance
Happy New Year 2020 to all of you!!
Yours in Rotary
