Rotary & Corporate Social Responsibility
In 2012, the words Leadership and Responsibility take on completely different meanings.
In today's hectic economic climate, it is easy to lose sight of "doing the right thing" when faced with top and bottom
line pressures.
Too often, the urgency of success pulls business leaders away from the things that really matter: our member’s
sense of pride, and the community that we serve.
Motivation � Knowing that you matter. Remember to show continuing
appreciation. � Being part of a crusade. Knowing that your talent makes a
difference. � Living your dream. I am here because I can close my eyes
and I can see that what I do helps me to improve myself. � Most people spend their whole life searching for their dream. Most people spend their whole life searching for their dream.
Real Leadership goes beyond the organization and reaches into the community.
People intrinsically want to give back
� As business leaders, it is important to acknowledge that our responsibility extends well beyond spreadsheets and conference calls.
� Being called to lead means setting an example in many ways. � From giving money and volunteering hours � To corporate led programs � Nonprofit engagements around the world � We can give at many levels.
� But how do we find a balance? How can we be responsible without “taking our eyes off the ball” at work?
We know we want to give back, but… � We are too busy/Not enough time � We are under too much pressure � Priorities don’t align � No budget/funding � We aren’t supported � We don’t know how and where to get involved � We have fear…

Abandonment Humans are pack animals – it is natural to be afraid of being alone.
Failure Is it Failure or Defeat? Defeat is when life crumbles around you, and you stay in it but do nothing to climb out. Get knocked down one hundred times – get back up one hundred and one!
