ROTWATER BLIGHTINTO THE PLAGUE FORESTTread carefully, fellow warriors, for you are taking your first steps into Rotwater Blight in the Realm of Life. This is a wild place, where the verdant forests have been corrupted by the vile forces of Nurgle. Relive the constant struggle between the realm’s natural vitality and the pestilent boons of the Plague God as you venture deep into the diseased forest...

Welcome to Throne of Skulls- a gaming event all about fun, friendly battles in a relaxed atmosphere. You’ll get to play some great games against other like-minded players in the unique atmosphere of the spectacular Warhammer World Event Hall.

No matter whether you’re a seasoned player or if this will be your first step into playing our games, the focus for this event is on camaraderie and playing in the spirit of the game; that is to say non-competitive and fair play are the order of the day.

EVENT ESSENTIALSDate: 9th- 10th January 2016Venue: Warhammer World, NottinghamTimes: Saturday 9:00am-7:00pm, Sunday 9:00am- 5:00pmNumber of games: 5Army Size: 60 models or less (see Mustering your Forces later)Additional Rules in Use: Time of War: Rotwater Blight from Quest for Ghal Maraz (pgs 144-145)

BATTLEPLANS IN USE:From the Warhammer: Age of Sigmar book• Game 1: Hold or Die (pg 142)• Game 2: The Ritual (pg 163)• Game 3: Breakthrough (pg 190)• From the Quest for Ghal Maraz supplement• Game 4: Kill The Beast (pg 141)• Game 5: War of Storms (pg 157)Publications in use: All Warhammer Age of Sigmar publications and Warscrolls from Games Workshop, including Black Library, Forge World, the Games Workshop website and White Dwarf.

YOUR MINIATURESAll miniatures in your collection must be Games Workshop Miniatures and be fully assembled, painted and based. Each model must represent, in full, what is presented on its Warscroll.

INTO THE WYLDWOODAs you might expect, you will be playing on tables covered in a lot of Citadel Wood terrain pieces. For the duration of this event, any group of 2 or more Citadel Woods that are in base contact with each other count as a Sylvaneth Wyldwood (Warhammer Age of Sigmar book, page 258). There is a chance more Wyldwoods may appear during the course of the game (See Time of War: Rotwater Blight) fear not, we will have more on hand for when this occurs!

We will ask you during registration if you have any unpainted or unbased models left to finish. If you do, show us and we will tell you what needs to be done in order to make the models up to standard for the event. Then we will do our best to give you the time and space to get your models finished.

If you aren’t sure what you need to do, give us a call on 0115 900 4994 and we will happily talk you through what we look for.

MUSTERING YOUR FORCESIn order to attend Throne of Skulls, you’ll need to bring with you a collection of painted miniatures and all of the Warscrolls you need to use them in the game. Your games will be two and a half hours long, so bring enough miniatures to play for that long. You will be expected to have a quick chat with your opponent before deployment takes place to roughly balance your forces ensuring you both have a fun game. There is one restriction we ask you to abide by in your games, just for the duration of this event:You may bring as many models as you like: select up to 60 models of your choice for each game.

THE QUEST FOR GHAL MARAZAllying yourself temporarily to either Nurgle or Order as described later in this pack means you will be able to use more of the cool special rules seen in Time of War: Rotwater Blight. You will be given a copy of these rules at the weekend, but if you want to prepare yourself for the carnage to come, grab yourself a copy of the Quest for Ghal Maraz supplement, where these rules have been taken from! (Available from your local Games Workshop store or www.games-workshop.com)

GAMESOver the course of the weekend, you’ll play five games against randomly determined opponents, each game being two and a half hours long. You will need to note the results of your games on special record cards, handed to you when you register.

GOT A GRUDGE?We know there might be a few old gaming grudges you need settling, so over lunch on Sunday time, we will be taking any requests for certain opponents. We will need both of you to approach the Events Team over lunch, request the match-up and we will sort it for Game 5!

ROTWATER BLIGHTThe games you play over the weekend are taking place in the foul, corrupted forests of Rotwater Blight in the Realm of Life. As such, each battle will use the Time of War Rules presented on pages 144-145 of the Quest for Ghal Maraz supplement book. If you want to find out the special rules before the weekend, grab a copy of the book and have a read yourself. If you don’t have a copy of the book, we will give you a print-out of these rules when you register.

THE TAINT OF CHAOSThe touch of Nurgle is never far from your Warriors; even the most stalwart of Sigmar’s followers feel the taint of Chaos in Rotwater Blight. Similarly, the magic of the Sylvaneth can affect weak minds and force them to fend off would-be invaders.

Before each game, decide which player is the the Corrupted and which is the Forest Defender. There must be one of each. You can do this by looking at the armies and deciding if character fits eitherone (e.g. Chaos, Skaven and Ogors make good Corrupted, while Duardin, Stormcast Eternals and Aelfs make for good Defenders) or you can randomly determine which side is which through a dice roll.• For the duration of this game, add the key words Nurgle and Chaos

to all warscrolls in the Corrupted army.• For the duration of this game, add the key words Order and

Sylvaneth to all warscrolls in the Forest Defenders army.

FAVOURITE GAME VOTESAt the end of the event, we will ask each of you to secretly note down one of the other players you most enjoyed playing against, for whatever reason. Perhaps they were great fun to play against, perhaps their army was beautiful, maybe it was a hard fought and close game; whatever the reason you chose, show your appreciation by filling in your Favourite Game Vote.

BATTLE POINTSDuring the Event, you will earn Battle Points dependant on the result of your games as such:• Major Victory: 10 Battle Points• Minor Victory: 8 Battle Points• Draw: 3 Battle Points• Loss: 1 Battle PointNote your Battle Points score down on your record card. We record these simply to have a second sorter for who wins the Throne of Skulls (see below); it’s not all about winning your games!

WINNING THE THRONE OF SKULLSLifting the Throne of Skulls trophy itself is an honour indeed for any hobbyist, and rightly so. The trophy will go to the player who earns the most Favourite Game votes from their opponents. If there is a tie, we will look at how many Battle Points you score over the weekend as a second sorter. Remember, actually winning your games isn’t the most important thing at Throne of Skulls - it’s all about those Favourite Game votes!

THE BEST ARMY COMPETITIONIt is the dream of many painters to lift a Best Army trophy at one of our events, so we thought we would give you guys the chance too. During Game 1, the Events Team will circle the hall and select a number of armies we think are worthy for nomination for Best Army. Then, over Sunday lunch time, we will give you all the chance to vote for which one of these armies you think is the best. The player which earns the most votes will win the Best Army prize at the Award Ceremony.

LEGENDS PAINTING COMPETITIONSLegends gives you the chance to show off your skills with single models and units rather than with whole armies. Simply enter the relevant category when it’s open; once all the entries are in, we will ask all the players to vote for their favourites. The player that earns the most votes in each category will earn the relevant award at the Award Ceremony. (Please note: only miniatures from your Throne of Skulls forces may be entered into this competition).

Hero of Legend: For single models on foot, or mounted on a roughly horse-sized mount i.e. Nothing bigger than Juggernauts and Mournfang mounts here).Beast of Legend: All types of Monsters, and heroes mounted on huge monstrous mounts, (e.g.Azhag the Slaughterer)Engine of Legend: All Artillery, War Machines, and mechanical engines of war (e.g. Steam Tanks, Gyrocopters, etc)Company of Legend: Any unit of 10 or less models on foot, 5 or less models on horse-sized mounts or 3 or less models on monstrous mounts (e.g. Rot-flies or Demigryphs).
