Stanton to our spiritual ground that is the Sydney United Sports Centre for this round 4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s fixture.

Round 3 saw the boys post up their first victory of the season with a memorable 3-2 victory over the Rockdale City Suns in a game which saw a spectacular goal scored by Yianni Perkatis who took out the Goal of the Week plaudits at Football NSW.

We are hoping that the team can continue on its winning ways with three points tonight against a hungry young outfit in the Sky Blues.

It’s been a fantastic start to the year for our Under 20 boys who have come out the blocks firing with three wins from three matches. We want to wish coach Miro Vlastelica all the best for his troops tonight.

Sydney United 58 ended a tumultuous opening to the season with a high scoring

win last week and will be out to make it two from two when they host Sydney FC on Saturday night.

Jason Culina secured his first victory as United 58 coach in the win against Rockdale City Suns with the three points hopefully the building block for much more to come from the Edensor Park outfit.

Chris Payne and Panny Nikas were the danger men once again for the Reds but a solid contribution from Matt Sim also stood out in the performance with the trio sure to be the ones to watch against the Young Sky Blues.

Defence is one area Culina will have concerns coming up against the pacy attack of Sydney FC.

Rob Stanton’s youthful side has gone off the boil the past two weeks despite a round one victory.

Last week they looked on track for a draw against Wollongong Wolves before conceding in the 86th minute.

Sam McIllhatton was a stand out performer for the second straight week with the midfielder quickly becoming the key cog in Sydney FC’s line-up

The Young Sky Blue’s skipper will once again be out to pull the strings in midfield and take advantage of a porous United 58 defence.

Despite a much improved display last week, United 58 have looked susceptible this season and with a good performance Sydney FC could come away with an upset.

#NPLNSWMATCH REVIEWSRockdale City Suns FC 3 – Sydney United 58 FC 2 at Ilinden Sports Centre

Sydney United 58 has broken through for their first win of season clinging on for a 3-2 victory against Rockdale City Suns at Ilinden Sports Centre on Sunday.

Chris Payne’s 60th minute strike was the difference as United 58 fought back from two early goals to give new coach Jason Culina his first points in charge of a National Premier Leagues NSW outfit.

The visitors took the lead through Patrick Antelmi, only to trail through goals from Jordan Figon and Alec Urosevski before equalising in first-half stoppage time when Yianni Pertakis found the net.

Payne then thundered home the winner midway through the second period for United 58 as they ended their streak of back to back defeats.

Sydney FC 1 – Wollongong Wolves 2 at Lambert Park

Wollongong Wolves produced a spirited comeback to down Sydney FC 2-1 at Lambert Park on a rain soaked Saturday evening.

Hassan Jalloh scored for the second week running to open the scoring for Sydney FC in the second half, only for Wolves to respond minutes later with a Ryan Elsom equaliser.

With shared points looming as a likely outcome Peter Simonoski then came off the bench for the visitors to grab a late winning goal and spark wild celebrations for the boys from the South Coast.

The result made it two wins from three for Wolves who remain undefeated after a bright start to their 2018 National Premier Leagues NSW campaign.

Competition frontrunners Sydney United 58 are looking to maintain their early lead

over the pack when they welcome Sydney FC to Edensor Park on Saturday afternoon.

The Reds boast a perfect record following three wins over Marconi Stallions, Blacktown City and Rockdale City Suns and have been in impressive nick with forward Kyle Cimenti impressing in particular with three goals.

United 58 possess a wide range of attacking threats in Sam Perre and Anthony Pedavoli who have both looked dangerous so far this campaign and with the Sky Blues having some

shaky moments in defence recently the visitors will need to be wary.

Sydney beat Wollongong 4-1 last round to remind everyone of their quality but a victory against the in-form Reds would no doubt return the Sky Blues back among the competition heavyweights.

Hamish Lamberton has scored three so far for Sydney – the former United 58 forward could just be the difference in an encounter that is sure to go down to the wire.
