The Round Rock Express left Las Vegas with a lopsided 26-11 victory in their series finale against the Aviators on Thursday night. Round Rock got the scoring party started as C Jamie Ritchie drove in CF Drew Ferguson with a double in the second inning. The Aviators answered back quickly with an RBI single in the third to level the score. In the fourth, Ferguson notched a one-out single then was doubled home by 1B Taylor Jones. 3B Nick Tanielu then shot a longball into right field to give the Express a 4-1 lead. Round Rock scored single runs in each of the next two frames, beginning with a fifth-inning longball courtesy of RF Kyle Tucker. In the sixth, Ritchie doubled home Jones to extend the lead. In the bottom half of the sixth, the Aviators came within 6-3 on a two-run homer by 2B Franklin Barreto. Round Rock humbled Las Vegas with a 13-run seventh inning that consisted of eight singles, three doubles, four walks and an Aviators fielding error. A total of 11 batters reached base in consecutive order. The frame saw a total of 19 E-Train hitters come to the plate. The Aviators pushed back in the home half with a leadoff homer followed by a double that sent a pair home, but their best effort only cut the deficit to 19-7. At the same time, Round Rock refused to let up as Ferguson worked a walk in the eighth while Jones and Tanielu teamed up for back-to-back home runs to increase the lead to 22-7. K'S ON K'S Round Rock RHP Jose Urquidy is set to take the mound in tonight's series opener against the Abejas de Salt Lake. The righty has been impressive in his first three starts of the year, holding a 2-0 record while punching out 32 in just 19.2 innings of work. Urquidy owns the highest Chupacabras single-game strikeout total with 12 punchouts in his start against San Antonio on May 21. JONES IGNITES THE FIRE Chupacabras OF Taylor Jones posted a season-best outing on Thursday night, going 5-5 with a double, a home run, six RBI, two walks and five runs scored. Through seven plate appearances, Las Vegas failed to retire the outfielder once as he worked for a five-hit game, a feat that has not been accomplished OF Travis Snider notched five knocks on June 7, 2017. Tanielu went deep twice on Wednesday then followed up with a nearly identical outing on Thursday. #20STRONGThe Round Rock Express are celebrating their 20th anniversary season in 2019. The club was originally founded in 2000 as the Double-A affiliate of the Houston Astros, winning the Texas League in their inaugural season. The Express advanced to the Triple-A Pacific Coast League in 2005. NO STRANGERS TO THE PCL GAMESeventeen players have made their Triple-A debut with the Express in 2019: RHP Brandon Bielak, RHP Ronel Blanco, RHP Jose Bravo, RHP Humberto Castellanos, C Oscar Castro, RHP Tanner Duncan, RHP Justin Ferrell, LHP Ryan Hartman, RHP Corbin Martin, C Lorenzo Quintana, INF Josh Rojas, RHP Kit Scheetz, INF Anibal Sierra, RHP Jose Urquidy, RHP Gabriel Valdez, RHP Forrest Whitley and OF Stephen Wrenn. The remaining 25 players that have suited up for Round Rock in 2019 all appeared for the Fresno Grizzlies at some point in 2018. The Grizzlies, who served as Houston’s Triple-A affiliate from 2015-2018, fell to the Memphis Redbirds 3-1 in the best-of-five Pacific Coast League Championship Series a year ago.

EXPRESS MANAGER MICKEY STOREYMickey Storey joins the Express from the Class-A Quad Cities River Bandits, where he began his managerial career in 2018. The 32-year-old skipper led the River Bandits to an 81-59 record in 2018, the second-best mark in the Midwest League and the club’s highest win total since 2015. Prior to his time in Quad Cities, Storey served as the Development Coach at Class-A Advanced Buies Creek in 2017. The former right-handed pitcher had a nine-year professional playing career that included one season with the Astros in 2012 in which he posted a 3.86 ERA in 26 appearances with the Major League club.

Storey was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he attended nearby Deerfield Beach High School before moving on to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. He was drafted twice in his career, first by the Minnesota Twins in the 22nd round of the 2007 MLB Draft and again by the Oakland Athletics in the 31st round of the 2008 MLB Draft. During his nine-year professional career, Storey pitched at every level of affiliated baseball, including stints with Sacramento and Oklahoma City in the Pacific Coast League. He also posted winter ball stints in the Dominican Republic, Mexico and Venezuela. He finished his playing career in 2016 following two seasons with the Somerset Patriots of the independent Atlantic League. In total, the righty amassed a career 3.52 ERA in 385 games.
