The Great Classics: Berlioz’s Grande Messe des MortsMonday 30th November 2015, 7.30pm

One of Hector Berlioz’s most well-known works, Grande Messe des Morts is, without doubt, a classical tour-de-force. This emotionally stirring requiem, commemorating soldiers from the 1830 French Revolution, was written for an enormous orchestra, including over two hundred voices and thrilling massed brass, displaying Berlioz’s exquisite and colourful orchestration.
