Maintenance
• Check shaft for cracks and splinters• Ensure handle is secure• Ensure head is secure• Remove rust with wire wheel or brush• Apply thin coat of WD40 to non painted metal
surfaces• May paint head black to prevent rusting• Sharpen tines as needed• Clean with mild soap and water

Safety
• Wear appropriate PPE– Minimum of helmet, gloves, and eye
protection
• Full turnouts and SCBA are required when utilizing tool in an IDLH atmosphere or when making entry into a possible IDLH atmosphere
• Check surroundings prior to using tool• Ensure the tool is the right tool for the job
