••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• RUSSIAN Academics Experience Your Russian major will move you to acquire profciency in the use of the Russian language, an understanding of the culture and literature of Russia, and the ability to discuss complex literary and cultural expressions at a sophisticated level—producing, demonstrating and defending defnable arguments and critical thinking. Since language is crucial to the understanding of history and culture, your core courses will impart a grammatical, syntactical and cultural profciency enabling you to adapt to an increasingly diverse world. In addition, you can enroll in courses such as Russian Grammar and Stylistics, Advanced Literary Analysis, Russian Poetry, Russian Intellectual Tradition and Russian Literature in Translation. In the College of Arts and Sciences, we know experience is valuable and goes beyond the classroom. We strive to help you connect your academics with research, internships, education abroad, service learning and leadership experiences. Take advantage of opportunities in Russian such as: • Studying abroad at Yaroslavl State University in Russia • Serving as the Russian Club president • Tutoring your peers in the Language Lab Researching English to Russian translation of Nebraska culture • Volunteering at the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia Opportunities As a Russian major, you will receive a broad education making you an attractive candidate for a wide range of career opportunities.
