Sport, culture, movement
With the sports complexes of the Sportpark Wedau,
Duisburg invites you to the widest range of sporting
events. As the venue for international competitions on
the water and in the sports complexes, such as the
canoeing world championships, the World Games and
the Universiade. As the host to the Italian national team
and subsequent world champion during the 2006 FIFA
World Cup, which was also celebrated in Duisburg
within the scope of the large public viewing festival.
And as a town with loyal fans, who accompany Duis-
burg’s club steeped in tradition, MSV Duisburg, through
all the highs and lows, always providing a stirring atmos-
phere. Sport, culture and entertainment form one unit in
Duisburg. That way the sporting events are celebrated
with a comprehensive cultural programme and interna-
