KOMA refrigeration technique – weare committed to our name. Powerfulrefrigeration technique, theappropriate room climate for everyproduct, state-of-the-art air flowsystems according to the KOMA-TLR-Formula, variable sizes, componentsof leading manufacturers as well asthe fact, that every system iscustomized, planned, projected andinstalled are basis for supply of bestpossible quality.

Our optimal control and regulationof the fundamental conditionstemperature, air and relative airhumidity ensures well-balancedcooling and dough conditioningclimates. This is the constant aim ofour in-house design team.Refrigeration technique according tothe high demands of the STEK-standard., controls and top-qualityinsulation panels are all manufacturedin our own production facilities. Wealso keep to these principles whenit comes to service, assembly andinstallation.

KOMA employs its own field servicestaff who use KOMA approved spares.

Massive architecture, maximumcooling capacity, innovative evaporatorconstructions and intelligent air flow– these are the requirements towardsa capable and powerful blast freezer.

All these characteristics are combinedin an impressive manner in the KOMAIndustrial Blast Freezer “IBF”. Largehourly outputs of up to 600 kg/hourare no problem. The ceilingevaporators custom made for KOMAwith the tilted fan motors are space-saving and allow for trouble-freeintegration to existing productionsystems.

If required, the system can also beinstalled as a blast freezer. Optionalalso with Sensor Control System formeasurement of the core temperature,as well as optical and acousticsignalling device.

Optional also as Chiller for the chillingof oven-hot products such as bakedbread or warm meals (Catering,canteen/large kitchens).

The inside and outside of the chambersare made of stainless steel, thebottom is formed to a stainless steeltub, on demand with an integrateddrain system – so even in terms ofhygiene there are no compromises.

Optional with KOMA „RackCommander“,the automated rack transport system(see page page 5).

The KOMA „RackCommander“provides optimisation and automation.

It allows for computer-controlledautomation of the completeproduction process. Production cyclesthat include fermentation, bracingand blast freezing can be automatedvia the rack transport system. Definedprocessing steps eliminate fluctuationsand help to improve the quality ofyour final product.

Ground-clear assembly (hygiene!),rack transport via jackscrew-tension-system, state-of-the-art sensortechnology and computer controlsguarantee a trouble-free productionprocess, so there is no need formoving the racks by hand anymore. The integration of automatic slidingdoors is also trouble-free and eventhe backhaul of the racks can beincluded to the automatic cycle.

TURBO RUNNER – BELT FREEZING The TurboRunner is a linear beltfreezing system for continuousproduction processes. TheTurboRunner is designed for largehourly outputs of 2.000 kg/hour ormore. The system may be integratedinto automated production lines viamodern transportation technique.

Despite the size and the massiveconstruction of the KOMA„TurboRunner“ it adapts very flexiblyto changes in capacity or productionstructure. The modular design of 3m sections allows for extension ofthe system by one or more sections. Thus, even rearrangements inproduction may be performed withoutcomplete disassembly. The pre-mounted, modular design of theTurboRunner ensures a relatively cost-effective and quick installation onsite. So no particular recesses in thefactory bottom are necessary.

The linearly led belt is ideal for verysensitive products, that could bedamaged in form and structure bythe bend-lead of the belt in aconventional spiral system.

The construction of the thirdgeneration TurboRunner isconsequently based on the hygienic

concept. The belt is led freely over the ground,so the belt as well as the bottom are freelyaccessible for cleaning purposes. The bottom ofthe cabinet is tilted downwards at the edges,so that condensate and cleaning water as wellas seepage can flow out to sides of the door.

Evaporator tubs, fan motors as well as thecondensate tub can be tilted downwards withjust a few snatches. An automated belt cleaningsystem ensure easy cleaning during the defrostingphase. Optional also available with a specialcleaning- and sterilizing system.

Compared to systems using cryogenic gases, theTurboRunner ensures very low average productioncosts by the use of „conventional cold“ (incl.service-, energy- and depreciation costs), asshown in the exemplary calculation.

The KOMA PaterNoster– state-of-the-art transportation technique andpowerful refrigeration technique allowfor high hourly outputs of productsplaced on trays and run through theproduction process on theses trays.

The modular structure of the systemallows for the insertion of four traysat a time. After entrance, the transportascends vertically upwards. At the topfollows a horizontal transport to thesecond section, and afterwards, thetrays are transported verticallydownwards and forwarded to the exit. The powerful evaporators are optimally

arranged with their blow-out-area tocover the vertical transportation areaof the trays.

Just like all of our insulation rooms, our cabinets for our spiral freezersare manufactured in our own panelplant. The insulation is made of highpressure, CFC-free polyurethane-hard-foam of sandwich construction andincorporating a conical locking

    mechanism to ensure highinsulation values.

modern, half-hermeticreciprocating compressor, amplydesigned evaporators andcondenser surfaces only. Therefrigeration cycle meets the highdemands of the STEK Norm in

order to ensure a highdegree of safety andenvironmentalcompatibility.

The KOMA spiral freezer – state-of-the-art transport technique andpowerful refrigeration technique allowfor large hourly outputs at continuous, automated production.

Optionally, the belt is delivered instainless steel or plastic version andit is equipped with an automatedbelt cleaning system, in order to meetthe hygienic requirements (HACCP).

    Compressors, condensers, assembly (wiring)

    10

CompressorsThe refrigeration cycles installed byKOMA are based on the strict STEKNorm. Amongst other this implies thefollowing:

All KOMA devices are speciallymounted on carriages and arecompletely pre-wired. During assemblyonly the fixation of the control cables

    NRE – noise reduction enclosure

on the terminal block of the machineswitch cabinet is to be carried out.

Additionally, all devices are equippedwith high-/ low pressure-, as well asoil pressure-sensors. The versions ofthe KOMA compressors with separatecondenser are equipped with acompressor fan in order to ensure aheat dissipation for the device.

KOMA uses capillary high pressurehoses, no copper capillary as theseare vulnerable leakage. Further, oil-and liquid strainer are installed.Crucial components for the safety, longevity and ease of maintenanceof your KOMA compressors!

The liquid tank for large refrigerationdevices is always chosen large enoughaccording to STEK-Norm, so that itcan always hold the complete loadof refrigerant of the cooling cycle .So we do not use a compressor „off-the-shelf“ but adjust it to the specific

conditions (length of lead, size ofthe condenser etc.).

CondensersKOMA attaches great importance toan ample dimensioning of thecondenser surface, so that theperformance of your KOMA systemis ensured even at summerytemperatures!

Only when compressor, evaporatorsurface (within the compressor) andthe condenser surface are optimallyharmonized, you will experience theperformance required.

That is why you should not onlycompare the HP-indications of thecompressors (that actually indicatethe drive power of the electric motoronly), but the effective refrigerationcapacity measured in KW atcomparable condensation- andevaporation temperatures.

KOMA Assembly standardKOMA does not use material „off-the-shelf“. High-grade copper tubesare laid and we are put a high efforton minimizing the amount of solderjoints!

An outdoor set up is also easilypossible for compressors withstainless steel weather protectionenclosures. KOMA manufactures theseunits optionally.
