Coelho always wanted to become a writer. But ended up

becoming a hippie, traveling through South America, North

Africa, Mexico, and Europe and becoming immersed in

the drug culture of the 1960s.

Upon his return to Brazil, Coelho worked as a songwriter,

composing lyrics for ElisRegina, Rita Lee, and Brazilian icon

Raul Seixas..

In 1974, Coelho was arrested for "subversive" activities.

Coelho also worked as an actor, journalist, and theatre

director.

He had everything in Life that time money, wife, work etc, yet

he felt incomplete and that was because of his dream and hisquench of becoming a writer was still on .

Brida is a story of a beautiful young Irish girl, and herquest for knowledge. On her journey in search for learning

she meets a wise man who teaches her about overcoming

her fears, and a woman who teaches her how to dance to

the hidden music of the world. They see in her a gift, but let her make her own voyage of

discovery. As Brida seeks her destiny, she struggles to find

a balance between her relationships and her desire to

transform herself. The internal conflicts, externaltemptations, fears and joys of life.

She decides to learn magic to get answers to the questions

of Life.

He was the first person whom Brida met to learn Magic.

In their first meeting, he could see a point of Light in Bridas left shoulder,Which meant she was his soul mate, but he didnt disclose anything to hersince she was half his age, secondly he wanted her to figure out on her own.

His first lesson-He left Brida alone in the dark forest.

She got scared and all weird things started coming to her mind,like snakes ,themagus raping her etc.

But she decided to focus on the angel part of mind instead of giving importanceto the devil side.

His first lesson reminded her of her grandmother and she could connect hispreaching's with the lesson her grandmother had taught her,which was ofhaving Faith in Life

She even remembered her father and how he used to remove the scary nighmares from her mind and replaced them with the people who kept watch overthe night.

The night is just a part of the day this is what he would say. She

must trust the dark night and this trust was called Faith.

No one could ever understand faith but faith was somethingshe was experiencing in the forest. Miracles were

something which no one could understand but they did exist

for those who believed in them

For every individual each day is a dark night .None of us

know what might happen even the next minute, and yet still

we go forward. Because we trust. Because we have faith.

Every moment in life is an act of faith.

Wica started teaching Brida first by the deck of cards .

Wica taught Brida that she would find her soulmateBy taking risks ,by

risking failure, disappointment, dillusion, but never ceasing in your

search for love. As long as you keep looking you will triumph in end.

Brida couldnt learn anything through the cards. Then through a trickWicataught Brida that

Sometimes we set off down on a path simply because we dont believe in

it. Its easy enough all we have to do then is prove that isnt the right path

for us. However, when things start to happen, and the path does reveal

itself to us , we become afraid of carrying on

Many people choose to spend their whole life destroying

paths they didnt even want to follow, instead of following

the one path that would lead them to somewhere

Second Lesson The dream

God is in the word and one should always be careful of

what one says in any situation and at any moment.

Godmanifistes himself in everything, but the word is one ofthe most favored methods of doing so, because the word is

thought transformed into vibration, youre projecting into

the air around you something which, before was only energy.

Take great care with everything you say. Thus whatever we think actually happens,so always think

positive and think twice before you speak.

Lorens was Bridas boyfriend He was adorable and Brida could feel very much in Love

when he was around, but she was confused whether he washer soul mate or not.

Lorens wasnt aware of Bridas learning magic, she fearedsharing it with him, because she thought that he wouldnt likeher spending night in the forest and meeting strangers likeWica and Magus.

One fine day Brida decides to share her story & experience of

learning magic with him. He told her that he being a scientist he believes in certain

things which others dont understand, which soundimpossible, yet they practice and discover and come out withnew things. Every individual is different and as an individual

what I believe in might not be of any interest to you

Lorens view point

Every individual have different desires and thus

It isnt explanations that carry us forward; its

our desire to go forward.

Brida was happy to know that Lorens could understand herfeelings though she was anxious about the path she had

selected, she felt it was wrong , but soon she could recall her

fathers lessons he taught her that Nothing in the World is

ever completely wrong, Even a stopped clock is right twice aday.

Brida after learning Magic from Wica and magus was now a

Witch who learnt Witchcraft from Wica, so before her final

witch craft ceremony she thought of going and inviting

Magus.

The Magus in one of his lessons taught Brida that. The forceof good is always diffused, like Light. When you give positive

vibrations, you benefit all humankind, but when you

concentrate the force of demon in your head- you are only

benefiting or harming yourself. The Magus also taught Brida that Emotions were wild horses

which needed to be heard , if left alone they would grow

gradually.

Magus taught Brida that true Soul Mates are made for eachother and if they dont meet they both shall suffer.

And they are so connected that when one of them is in pain,the other suffers as well.

Brida somewhat was getting attracted towards Magus afer

spending time with him and knowing him well.

Brida shared her feeling of being in love with two guys at thesame time with her mother, and asked her if she ever was in

love with two guys .

Her mom in return shared her story- When she was ofBridas

age, even she had dreams of becoming something and going

out of town to study, but before she could convert it into realityshe got married to her dad, they both loved each other a lot,

and this had become her new life, which consisted only of her

husband and his family.This led her mother in losing contact

with the outside world and she didnt feel important.

One fine day she met a architect in church who had come to

work on a project and was studying the church, they had a

good interaction and he shared his stories of travelling various

parts with her, she felt special after a long time since he

appreciated her beauty and made her feel special.

Thus she taught Brida that.

When you get something you shouldnt give up

on other important things

That man sitting on the steps made me understand

that I was important to the world and to the history

of my country. I felt necessary, and thats the bestfeeling a human being can have.

On the day of the final ceremony Brida had realised thatMagus was her soul mate and thus she went to him,confessed

her Love for him and asked him to stay with her in the forest .

The Magus in return told her that he was under a spell since he

ditched a woman and so he had to live a lonely life in theforest.

Since Bridas life was totaly different he told her that it would

be better if she would choose to spend her life with Lorens

,since he was a nice guy and Brida would be happy withhim,and because of the spell he could as it is not stay with any

one.

People give flowers as presents because flowers contain the truemeaning of Love. Anyone who tries to possess a flower will have to watch

its beauty fading.

Magus knew that Love is liberty and it doesnt demand anything , it sets

the other person free to do whatever they desire.

True love allowed each person to follow their own path. But Magus knew that they had different lives and she should go and leave

in peace with Lorens.

I will always remember you, and you will remember me, just as we

will remember the evening, the rain in the windows, and all the things

well always have because we cannot posses them. Thus Brida returned to Lorens and The Magus decided to continue

teaching the World, The Tradition of The Sun and live the coming

dark night which would have a new destiny to follow.

Before reading Brida , I have read The Alchemist and

Veronika Decides to Die written by Paulo Coelho.

What I like about Paulo Coelhos Writing is that there is a

great story through which he passes Philosophicalmessages, which reading otherwise becomes really very

boring.

And as Brida deals with a young girls quench for

Knowledge of Love,Life,Relationships,Mysteries. I decidedto read this book since we all are passing through this

stage of finding various answers related to Life .
