Music In Memoriam Ray Paradis 1938-2009
To those who knew Ray, it is hard to believe that it has
been 10 years since he passed from this life. In celebration
of his life and his service to the music community in this
area, St. Mary’s Church would like to invite his friends
and colleagues to a recital in his honor on the organ that he
worked so hard to help install in our church. We will also
affix a plaque to the organ in honor of his service. We will
also have time to share stories about Ray (of which there
are many).

“Do come along in my company.” There are times in our lives when we need someone to walk with us. In a wonderful intimate scene between Moses and God, Moses says, “If I find favor with you, O Lord, do come along in our company.” [Exodus 34: 9] An ancient Christian way of spiritually walking with someone is called Spiritual Direction. It allows for another pair of ears to listen intently as to what God is saying to a person who is seeking a deeper relationship with God in Jesus Christ. A spiritual director listens, encourages, guides, challenges, accompanies and prays with you to help discern the movement of the Spirit in your life. Might you desire a closer relationship with God? Sessions with a spiritual director are typically held once a month and last for an hour. If you have questions about or are interested in such a spiritual relationship, contact Cindy Korb, C.S.D. at 607.267.0539 or [email protected] or the Consultation Center in Albany. Fr. David Mickiewicz can also assist you with any questions.
Applications Open for Potential Habitat for
Humanity Partner Families Application period open until June 2, 2019.
Habitat for Humanity Otsego County (HFHOC) calls for applicants for potential partner families. The application for interested potential partner families opens on April 2, 2019 and the deadline is June 2, 2019. Otsego County residents who have an interest in living in a Habitat for Humanity home in the future should apply. The applications and additional information can be obtained by emailing [email protected] , by calling the office at 607-432-7874, or via a written request to HFHOC, 403B Chestnut St., Oneonta NY 13820. Application criteria include a need for housing, willingness to partner, and income/credit guidelines. A Homeowner Selection Information Session will be held April 27, 2019 at 4:45 p.m. at the Habitat house under construction at McFarland Meadows located on Rt. 205 in Oneonta.
Families who are selected to partner with HFHOC will be assisted in completing the steps in purchasing a home, including the application for a low-interest mortgage. Local volunteers provide the majority of labor, so our homes are sold to partner families at extremely attractive prices! It takes about two years from the time an applicant is accepted to the home’s completion. This allows time for partner families to prepare for homeownership and to complete required homeownership education, as well as time for a house to be built. HFHOC’s Homeowner Support Committee act as mentors throughout the entire process.
