This blistering new adaptation sees Sophocles’ tragedy reimagined in a dystopian landscape, where fate is written in code and where drones flock across the skies. Brought to life by innovative theatre company Actors of Dionysus, this production combines bold ideas with passionate and visceral physical theatre.

In a radical reimagining of Charles Dickens’ classic novel, we follow one refugee’s journey, buffeted between borders and bad company.

Twist transforms Oliver’s struggle for sanctuary into a modern tale framed by the global crisis fast defining the 21st century.

Teeming with Dickens’ audacious characters, this production marks a bold collaboration for Theatre Centre, pioneers of new writing for young audiences.

REVIEWS“A rivetingly fresh reinvention of a myth”, Medea by Chino Odimba. **** The Times

His home is dust.

His friends are few.

His hands are as rough as the seas he has crossed.

Rising-star Chino Odimba has written for National Theatre and was shortlisted for the Bruntwood Prize.

Theatre Centre’s first adaptation in over a decade, this retelling of a Victorian masterpiece will challenge intolerance with urgency and compassion.

In a world where home is but a fragile thing and good fortune just a turn of fate, Twist is about having the temerity to ask for more.

Scene Productions and Redbridge Drama Centre present

METAMORPHOSISby Franz Kafka

A new adaptation by Scene Productions. Directed by Kelly Taylor-Smith

Scene Productions transform Redbridge Drama Centre into a thrilling, ghostly and chilling experience of sounds, sights and smells- from the mechanical office to the disarray of the family home and witnessing the harrowing experience and death of Gregor Samsa. They use a range of styles and influences from Brecht, Berkoff, Godber, Punchdrunk, Frantic Assembly, Stanislavski and Artaud to create a thrilling theatrical experience that will inspire students and provide a toolkit of innovative ideas and approaches to a piece of text.

"What has happened to me?" One morning, as Gregor Samsa was waking from anxious dreams, he discovered that in his bed he had transformed into a gigantic insect. Watch as the unremarkable life of this once quiet and diligent salesman, descends into antennnae twitching chaos. With a voice replaced by a rasp, a new body and countless waving legs; it is one thing for him to adapt to the new transformation; it is quite another for his family to cope with the new reality.

Teased and called Ugly by his siblings, our hero goes on an adventure in search of a place to fit in. As the woodland trees change from dark weathered branches to silver sticks of frost, the lost and lonely fledgling hides in brushwood and stares skyward at the migrating swans, yearning to belong and marvelling at their beauty…. Where does he really belong?Moving through all four seasons, tutti frutti and York Theatre Royal bring to life Hans Christian Andersen’s well known tale. With a menagerie of mischievous animals, depicted through inventive physicality, and live music that quacks and trills, this charming production plays with the importance of identity, self-worth and takes us on a journey to discover inner beauty.

An intense 50-minute tour de force for solo soprano, this one-woman opera is short in length, but not in emotion. Alone in her flat, Elle is unravelling. Cradling the phone, she tries to put on a brave face for her ex-lover on the other end of the line, but despair and loneliness overwhelm her.

This is opera at its rawest and most intimate, a deeply personal work by a composer going through his own heartbreak. Poulenc and Cocteau had shared the perils and pleasures of early-20th-century gay life – including Nazi occupation – for decades by the time the composer tackled his friend’s hit play, and the result is a perfect marriage of words and music.

The night of the Snow Dragon approaches…Billy has everything a young goat could need – and more besides. On New Year’s Eve, Billy is looking forward to the annual visit of the legendary Snow Dragon, who will bring him even more goodies...But when Billy bumps into some hungry wolves in the forest, New Year’s Day seems a long way off. How will Billy escape? And has he been naughty or nice?Toe-tapping songs and lots of laughs for everyone aged 3 and up, from the company that brought you ‘The Gruffalo’ and ‘The Snail and the Whale’.
