20th Sunday in Ordinary Time/20 Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario

Meditation on today’s readings:

"Do not continue in ignorance, but try to

discern the will of the Lord." Ephesians 5:17

St. Jerome asserted: "Ignorance of the

Scriptures is ignorance of Christ" (Catechism, 133). If we are ignorant of Christ, we will not discern the will of the Lord (Eph 5:17). This means we will not make "the most of the present opportunity" (Eph 5:16). But through knowledge of the Scriptures and through good discernment of God's will, we are saved from a futile (see 1 Pt 1:18), vain (see Eccl 1:2) existence.

Therefore:

"Keep this book of the law on your lips. Recite it by day and by night, that you may observe carefully all that is written in it; then you will successfully attain your goal" (Jos 1:8).

Let the law of the Lord be your joy, and study God's law day and night (see Ps 1:2).

Devour God's words and make them the joy and happiness of your heart (Jer 15:16).

Abide in God's Word (Jn 8:31). Devote yourself to the apostles' teaching

(Acts 2:42). Each day study the Scriptures (Acts 17:11). Preach God's Word and "stay with this task

whether convenient or inconvenient correcting, reproving, appealing constantly teaching and never losing patience" (2 Tm 4:2).

How precious is God's Word! Love, live, and proclaim His Word.

Prayer: Father , m ay I daily read and joyfully obey Your Word. Promise: "I Myself am the Living Bread come down from heaven. If anyone eats this bread he shall live forever; the bread I will give is My flesh, for the life of the world." (Jn 6:51) Praise: Praise You, r isen Jesus! You are

the Living Word, the Word of Life. All glory be to

You forever!

Meditación sobre las lecturas de hoy:

"No sean irresponsables, sino traten de saber

cuál es la voluntad del Señor" Efesios 5:17

San Jerónimo afirmó: "Ignorancia de las Escrituras es ignorancia de Cristo" (Catecismo, 133). Si ignoramos a Cristo, no discerniremos la voluntad del Señor (Ef 5:17). Esto significa que nos "perderemos el momento presente" (Ef 5:16). Pero con conocimiento de las Escrituras y por medio del buen discernimiento de la voluntad de Dios, seremos salvos de una conducta vana (ver 1 Pe 1:18) y una existencia de poca importancia (ver Ecl 1:2).

Por lo tanto:

"Que el libro de esta Ley nunca se aparte de ti:

medítalo día y noche, para obrar fielmente en todo conforme a lo que está escrito en él. Así harás prosperar tus empresas y tendrás éxito" (Jos 1:8).

Deje que la ley del Señor sea tu gozo y estudia la ley de Dios de día y de noche (ver Sal 1:2).

Devora las palabras de Dios y conviértelas en el gozo y la felicidad de tu corazón (Jer 15:16).

Permanece en la Palabra de Dios (Jn 8:31). Dedícate a la enseñanza de los apóstoles (Hch

2:42). Cada día estudia las Escrituras (Hch 17:11). "Proclama la Palabra de Dios, insiste con ocasión

o sin ella, arguye, reprende, exhorta, con paciencia incansable y con afán de enseñar" (2 Tim 4:2).

¡Qué preciosa es la Palabra de Dios! Ámala, vívela y proclámala.

Oración: Padre, que pueda leer a diar io y obedecer alegremente Tu Palabra. Promesa: "Yo soy el pan vivo bajado del cielo. El que coma de este pan vivirá eternamente, y el pan que yo daré es Mi carne para la Vida del mundo" (Jn 6:51). Alabanza: ¡Alabado seas, Jesús resucitado!

Tú eres la Palabra viva, la Palabra de vida. ¡Toda la

gloria sea para Ti siempre!

Dear Heavenly Father, For all the children

returning to school, send your Holy Spirit as their

guide and protector. Keep them free from danger

and unnecessary harm. Put our sons and daughters

in the right place, at the right time, to receive your

grace. Let them learn and grow strong. May the

presence of your Spirit fill their hearts. Help us to

mature as parents and caregivers. Bless every

family, oh Lord. We entrust our children to you,

dear God. Since from the beginning, they are yours

to keep . In the name of the greatest Son of all, Jesus

Christ. Amen

Querido Padre Celestial, para todos los niños que

INSPIRATION FOR THE WEEK

"Show me what is physically different between a host that is consecrated and one that is not." These are words

that can be heard on the lips of anyone struggling with faith. Perhaps, they are heard on yours. Physical tests

will reveal no difference. The difference is seen through faith. In one sense, it is simple. Either we believe that

the risen Christ is present -- soul and divinity -- or we do not. The fruits of faith are the proof. In the Eucharist,

God enters into the very depths of who we are. However, it is our choice whether we ignore what He does or act

fully upon it. The Eucharist can change us. When people see that we are different,

they in turn will themselves believe.

INSPIRACIÓN DE LA SEMANA

"Enséname la diferencia entre una hostia consagrada y una no consagrada." Estas palabras se escuchan

frecuentemente de la gente que está cuestionando su fe. Quizás usted ha pensado esto mismo. Un examen

físico no demostrará una verdadera diferencia entre las dos hostias. La diferencia se encuentra en la fe. De una

forma, es muy simple. O creemos que Cristo resucitado está presente - alma y divinidad - o no. Los frutos de la

fe son la evidencia. En la Eucaristía, Dios entra en lo más profundo de nuestro ser. Sin embargo, es nuestra

decisión ignorar lo que Él hace para nosotros o vivir por ello. La Eucaristía nos transforma. Cuando los demás

ven una transformación en cada uno de nosotros,

ellos creerán también.
