By way of a change I am writing thesenotes from the USA where I have taggedalong with the Ronnie Scotts All Stars- James Pearson, Sam Burgess, Pedro Segundo, Alex Garnett andNatalie Williams, - whilst they played a few shows at the RochesterJazz Festival and a one off at Birdland in NYC. It is interesting to dothese overseas shows and witness at first hand how well the clubis known around the world.

As well as spreading the word through live band shows we are nowmaking a few strides with our radio venture. Having broadcast aninternet station for the past year we are now producing a weeklymagazine show from the club that goes out on national Jazz fm at10pm each and every Friday night. Check it out.

Meanwhile, back at the shop, its business as usual although it hasto be said, exceptional business. The other day I made a point toJack Massarik of the Evening Standard that it is always pleasing toattract artists to the club who could earn more money elsewherebecause it means they really want to play at Ronnies, and that isthe case this summer when we have two marquee bookings - JohnMcLaughlin and Wynton Marsalis both preferring the intimacy ofRonnies to the concert hall. The way our members responded tothese meant they were almost sold out by the time they went onsale to the public. The rest of the summer looks pretty impressive aswell, The Heavies, Gary Burton, Hiromi, James Carter Organ Trio,Curtis Stigers, Buddy Greco, Incognito, and Madeline Bell with theBBC Big Band, as good a schedule as ever.

We also have our annual BRIT JAZZ FEST, a fortnight of all thats goodin British jazz, which opens with the house Big Band playing the musicof John Barry and ends with the talented crossover artist MatthewHerbert with his eclectic ensemble. Theres too much to mention hereso check out the full list in this programme or visit the website.
