GENERAL RULES• Avoid working alone in a laboratory or chemical
storage area
• Wear appropriate eye protection at all times
• When working with flammable chemicals, be certain that there are no sources of ignition nearby
• Use a blast shield whenever an explosion or implosion might occur

• The chemical’s hazards and appropriate safeguards for using that chemical
• The location and proper use of emergency equipment
• Appropriate procedures for emergencies
• How and where to properly store the chemical when it is not in use
