Stowen Clean Energy is an exciting new development within the Stowen Group. Kieron Ford, Technical Director of Stowen Clean Energy explains more.

Despite fluctuating oil prices, Brexit and US Presidential Races there are always

two constants - the sun will keep shining and the wind will keep blowing. That's

been great news at Stowen Group, as the booming clean energy marketplace

sees us growing year on year serving this sector!

We're delighted to now formally announce renewables comes under a new, specially-created division: Stowen Clean Energy.

We bring the same industry expertise and local presence to the

renewables industry that we have for oil and gas. Our bases at

Great Yarmouth and Houston, Texas give us unparalleled access

to the offshore wind industry in the region.

Our strength is our skill-base. We offer full, turnkey solutions to

customers on a project-by-project basis or on an ongoing retainer.

Customers love the fact that there's a single point of contact with us that opens a

wealth of skills, experience and sector-knowledge to complete projects on-time

and on-budget.

We have some really exciting projects starting in 2017 in Offshore Wind and look

WILL COAL TRUMP CLEAN ENERGY UNDER A NEW US PRESIDENT?

Donald Trump has been outspoken in his views on Clean Energy. Climate change is a "myth", and he plans to re-invigorate the coal industry by cutting regulation.

The US EPA's "Clean Power Plan", obliging states to cut carbon emissions may well be curtailed, but policy u-turns alone won't revive the coal industry. Cheap natural and shale gas will be tough to beat on price.

Even without the CPP, 60 gigawatts of coal-fired generation will be retired by 2030.

We still see a boom-time for renewable technologies. Tax credits for wind and solar enjoy bi-partisan support, making them hard for a Trump Executive to repeal.

Solar costs and offshore wind are falling all the time, and once set up offer unparalleled opportunities for cheap, reliable generation.

The winds of change are blowing in the White House, and we don't see clean energy disappearing from the US domestic generation mix anytime soon!

CASE STUDY: A2SEA CHALLENGER

Stowen Clean Energy recently undertook offshore fabrication/welding and lifting operations assistance in order to remove a thruster motor from the hull on board offshore Jack up Vessel A2SEA Challenger.

Working off the coast of Norfolk, our local technicians completed the project from our Great Yarmouth supply base to reduce the cost to the customer.

We completed on time and with no LTI’s, delivering an agile and safe operation.

The project required the use of coded welders and rigging personnel to cut out the deck plate and provide assistance on lifting out the faulty thruster motor,

following the successful lift, the deck plate was welded back into position and secured watertight for the return of the thruster after repair.

The deck plate was cut out and all the rigging expertise on board was used to successfully remove the Thruster without damage, all in all it was both a challenging but rewarding project.
