Where the Panthers Go

“The discipline that I maintained from competing in Track and Field has defi nite-ly infl uenced my determination to be the best that I can be as an educator. I look at teaching as merely facilitating learning as a coach would do in whatever athletic fi eld. In addition, participating in Track and Field at Sacramento City College was the best college experience...I received a sense of family, unity, support, struggle that helped me grow, as well as a realistic application of goal setting.”

- Rachel Parrish (1995)1st Grade Teacher

Julie Ferrara-Jones (Assistant Coach) Ferrara-Jones enters her 12th season as an assistant coach. She works with the hurdlers and as-sists with the sprints and relays. She is one of the most successful hurdle coaches at the community college level, coaching four state champions in the 100m hurdles in just 8 years. Prior to her SCC experience, she was the head coach at nearby Luther Burbank High School in 1994. As an athlete, Ferrara-Jones competed at the CIF State Championships as a senior for Del Campo High School. She continued on to run the intermediate hurdles for the University of California, Davis where she received her B.A. degree in 1994, and a multiple subject teaching credential in 1995. She completed her master’s degree in kinesiology from CSUS in 2000. Julie is a past recipient of the U.S.W.T.C.A. 2003, but adding state titles to the 2004 and 2005 team accom-plishments as well. In these thirteen seasons at SCC there have been: 184 All-Conference performers, 86 individual state meet qualifi ers, and 14 individual state champions. Not just known for coaching mastery, her strong organizational skills in meet management led to her being

named the competition director for the USA Olympic Track and Field trials for 2004. Only the second woman to be placed in that role and the only community college coach ever appointed. She has also assisted in management capacities for the 2000 Olympic Track and Field trials and the 2003 NCAA Track and Field Championships. Bauduin participated in basketball and track and fi eld at Division 2 powerhouse North Dakota State University graduat-ing in 1982 with a BS in physical education.
