A LA MISA DOMINICAL DURANTE EL AÑO 2020 EN ESTE TIEMPO

DE LA PANDEMIA DEL CORONAVIRUS El Arzobispo José H. Gomez dispensa a todos los fie-les católicos de la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles y a todos los católicos actualmente en la Arquidiócesis, de la obligación de asistir a la Misa dominical hasta nue-vo aviso. Además, continúa suspendida la celebración pública de la Misa en la Arquidiócesis de Los Ángeles hasta nuevo aviso. Con dicha extensión de la dispensa, como se mencionó anteriormente, por favor tener en cuenta lo siguiente: • Se alienta a los sacerdotes a seguir celebrando la Mi-sa para sus fieles, pero éstas deben tomar la forma de “Misa Privada” (por ejemplo, sin una congregación) en su iglesia o capilla y debe ser transmitida en vivo. THE SUNDAY OBLIGATION OF MASS FOR THE YEAR 2020 DURING

THE TIME OF THE CORONAVIRUS PANDEMIC

Archbishop José H. Gomez dispenses all the Catho-lic faithful of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles and all Catholics currently in the Archdiocese from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass until further notice. Furthermore, the public celebration of Mass continues to be suspended in the Archdiocese of Los Angeles until further notice. In so doing, as mentioned before, please make note of the following: • Priests are encouraged to continue celebrating Mass for their faithful, but it should take the form of a “Private Mass” (i.e. without a congregation) in their church or chapel and be livestreamed. One or two ministers may assist the Priest.

• Priests are to encourage the Faithful to keep the Lord’s Day holy. Some ways to do this include: reading the Gospels, praying with your families, and to join yourself to the sacrifice of the Mass by making an act of spiritual communion.

• Parishes are invited to inform their parishioners of opportunities to view Mass or other services via livestream. The weekday and Sunday Masses will be livestreamed from the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels via various social media platforms of the Cathedral and the Archdiocese.

• The English Mass from the Cathedral is available on television KCOP Ch. 13 on Sunday at 10:00 AM. The Spanish Mass from the Cathedral is available on television UniMás Ch. 46 on Monday to Friday and Sunday at 7:00 AM.

TIREMENT FUND

Next month, all parishes throughout the Archdiocese of Los Angeles will be asked to give generously to support the Retirement Fund for Archdiocesan Priests. At each Mass on June 1st & 2nd, a second collection will be taken to benefit this important program. Currently, the fund provides for more than 100 priests who are retired. Over the next ten years, that number isexpected to increase significantly. With minimal compensation, and in may cases, no pension, these menoften retires with nothing to fall upon. Your con-tributions can change that. The Priest Retirement Fund offers us a way to give back to our Catholic priests who have served us so faithfully. Your contribution will help archdiocesan priests live modestly and peacefully in retirement. Help us offer thanks for their years of devotion to God, and faithful service to our parish communities.
