Being fruitful
Jesus’ parables can either be termed as ‘window parables’ or ‘mirror para-bles’. While the former provide the glimpses of God, the Kingdom, the di-vine attributes, etc., the latter hold a mirror before us that we may see our-selves reflected in the parable. That is exactly what the leaders of Jesus’ time felt when He spoke those ‘mirror parables’. Given Jesus’ insistence on fruit-trees and being fruitful, we can understand what God expects of us: ‘the Kingdom belongs to those who produce fruits’, fruits of justice and righteousness. Jesus’ last judgement will be effected based on our utmost care and concern for ‘the least’ among us, the poorest of the poor. Do we, Christians – to whom was the promise given to inherit the Kingdom - produce fruits?
Paraphrasing Jesus’ statement, ‘No prophet is respected and accepted in his hometown’, someone said, ‘A prophet whose people do not want to reject and kill him is no prophet at all’. The challenge becomes obvious and evi-dent when one does produce the fruits of love and effectively pays the price for it. Fr. Amal

Ser fructífero
Las parábolas de Jesús pueden ser denominadas como "parábolas de venta-
na" o "parábolas de espejo". Mientras que los primeros proporcionan las
vislumbres de Dios, el Reino, los atributos divinos, etc., estos últimos po-
seen un espejo ante nosotros para que podamos vernos reflejados en la pará-
bola. Eso es exactamente lo que los líderes de la época de Jesús sintieron
cuando habló esas "parábolas de espejo".
Dada la insistencia de Jesús en los árboles frutales y siendo fructífera, pode-
mos entender lo que Dios espera de nosotros: "el Reino pertenece a los que
producen los frutos", los frutos de la justicia. El juicio final de Jesús se rea-
lizará sobre la base de nuestro mayor cuidado y preocupación por "los más
pequeños" entre nosotros, los más pobres de los pobres. ¿Acaso nosotros,
los cristianos, a quienes se le dio la promesa de heredar el Reino, produci-
mos frutos?
Parafraseando la declaración de Jesús: "Ningún profeta es respetado y acep-
tado en su ciudad natal", alguien dijo: "Un profeta cuyo pueblo no quiere
rechazarlo y matarlo no es ningún profeta". El desafío se vuelve evidente y
evidente cuando uno produce los frutos del amor y efectivamente paga el
precio por ello.

I will go to the Altar of God
The altar, a sign of Christ himself, occupies the holiest place in the church. Here is the
true high place where the sacrifice of Christ is continually offered in mystery; here per-
fect praise is given to you; here our redemption is set forth. Here is
made ready the table of the Lord where your children are refreshed by the Body of Christ and gathered into the Church one and holy.
Here your faithful drink deeply of the Spirit from the streams of water flowing from Christ the spiritual rock; through Him they
themselves become a holy oblation, a living altar (Preface of the Mass for the Dedication of an Altar).. Gestures of reverence ex-
press this significance of the altar and impress it upon us; the pro-found bow, the kiss, and incensing. The altar is, in the deepest sense, the heart of the Church. The Christian life is articulated
around the altar in three movements: to the altar, the movement of the world into the Kingdom; at the altar, the communion of heaven
and earth; and from the altar, the movement of the Kingdom into the world. “I will come to the altar of God, the God of my joy” (Ps
42:4). ********************************

altar y lo imprimen sobre nosotros; la inclinación profundo, el beso y el incienso. El altar es, en el sentido más profundo, el corazón de la Iglesia. La vida cristiana es articulada alrededor del altar en tres
movimientos: al altar, el movimiento del mundo hacia el Reino; en el altar, la comunión del cielo y de la tierra; y desde el altar, el mo-
vimiento del Reino hacia el mundo. "Vendré al altar de Dios, el Dios de mi gozo" (Sal 42, 4).
