Sacred Heart Staff …. Take a Bow! Last Friday was World Teachers’ Day. World Teachers’ Day acknowledges the efforts of teachers in an increasingly complex, multicultural and technological society. It is a day on which students, parents and community members can demonstrate their appreciation for the contributions that teachers have made to their community. Many parents and children have acknowledged teachers in a variety of way including chocolates, flowers, thank you cards or some words acknowledging the dedication of the staff. At Sacred Heart School we have been celebrating too, but we have broadened the day to World Catholic Staff Day, because all the staff at Sacred Heart School contribute to the education of your child. The following examples are just some ways that all staff support your children in their educational endeavours, whether it be directly or indirectly

• The parish priest leads us in faith through Mass and the sacramental programs. • Our office staff are at the front line and directly deal with parents. Their work ensures that things run

smoothly and support the teachers in their work. • The specialist teachers focus on skills that will support children in specific areas that will impact on life-

long learning. • The teacher aides work with children with special needs one-to-one, in small groups and the whole class. • Our maintenance man ensures that the school is safe and that facilities are functional. • Our visiting psychologist supports children and their families and builds up self-esteem in our children. • Our library technician ensures that the library is fully available to all students. • The leadership team oversee educational initiatives in dialogue with teachers and other staff. • The classroom teachers establish learner centred lessons where the student is encouraged to develop

knowledge and skills that can be used in a modern society.

All staff members have demonstrated care and support for all our wonderful children at Sacred Heart School. “So take a bow!” Regards Brian Martin Principal
