ABOUT THE SAFETY CLIMATE SURVEY
It is critical to understand your organisation’s current safety climate to drive meaningful change and improve safety performance.
The Generative HSE Diagnostic Safety Climate Tool is designed to help you measure safety climate, motivations, perceptions and self-ratedbehavior. It is tailored to suit your organisation and is a reliable predicator of safety behaviours, organisational safety performance and the effectiveness of safety interventions.
The survey design is based on organisational and safety climate theory, psychological theory, previous empirical research and a continuiousdevelopment process. It is based on the leading Nordic Safety Climate Questionnaire (NOSACQ-50) that has been developed and
recognised occupational safety researchers.
The NOSACQ-50 consists of 50 items distributed across 7 dimensions; which are used to describe and analyse an organisation’s safety climate:
1 Management safety priority, commitment and competence
2 Management safety empowerment
3 Management safety justice
4 Workers’ safety commitment
5 Workers’ safety priority and risk non-acceptance
6 Safety communication, learning, and trust in co-workers’ safety competence
7 Workers’ trustsystems.
Generative HSE has a proven technical team to manage survey design, data analysis and report writing. The survey work is overseen by Dr. Carole Birrell - an academic in mathematics and statistics.

The survey is delivered via an online platform provided by Copenhagen Research. All data is encrypted and backed-up. There is a technicalsupport line available to address any issues during the survey completion. The survey may also be completed and collated manuallyshould the workforce not have ready access to computers.
A comprehensive report is produced at the completion of the Safety Climate Survey and includes nine elements:

4 Inter division and department comparative analysis
5 Benchmarking comparative analysis

Depending on the survey content, it generally takes two to four weeks to develop the survey. The survey is then generally open for a period oftwo to three weeks. Depending on the agreed level of analysis, results are usually available two to three weeks after survey closure.
