Malaysia's OSHA is a lawful

act designed to ensure legal

protections to workers.

Malaysia's Occupational

Safety and Health Act

(OSHA) of 1994 guarantee

many rights and protections

to the common worker. These

rules and guidelines outline

certain responsibilities that

employers have to provide a

safe and healthy work

environment. These laws,

also referred to as "Act

514," are overseen and

enforced by the Department

of Occupational Safety and

Health (DOSH). All

employers in the nation of

Malaysia must run business

that fall in line with OSHA

requirements.

In the year 1967, the Factory

and Machinery Act was

approved by the Parliament of

Malaysia & in year1970, the

Factory and Machinery Act and

eight regulations under the act

were enforced.

This act was legislated to

overcome the weaknesses in the

Machinery Ordinance 1953,

where employees were not

protected if they are working in

a workplace that doesnt use

machinery.

EN. MOHD RASHID BIN

BUANG

He began his career in the

mechanical field back in the

90s with a Japanese company

(Jalco Electronics Sdn Bhd) and

joined Outokumpu (M) Sdn Bhd

in year 1997, the largest

copper producer in Finland at

that time.

In this company, he starts to involve in the field of health & safety

as a safety promoter. From that point onwards, his involvement in

the health & safety had evolve with further experiences &

exposure in the field of oil & gases, logistics, manufacturing,

heavy industry and construction industry.

In year 2001, he joined Danamin Malaysia Sdn Bhd, a reputable

oil & gas company in Malaysia Marine Heavy Engineering

(MMHE) at Pasir Gudang as a Safety Officer and later on, joined

another oil & gas (Fabrication) company, Asman Kadir Sdn Bhd.

During this period, his dedication and hard work paid off with the

award of being the Best Safety Officer in the SEA DRILL T12

PROJECT (MMHE).


OUR KEY PERSON

Later on in his career, he also involved in the manufacturing, transport

& heavy industries, mostly located in Pasir Gudang Industrial Area as

a Safety Practitioner and gained enormous experiences in those

industries he got involved.

During this period, he did not stalled in his career development by

keeping on improving his academic & professional qualifications and

skills by attending numerous seminars, professional trainings &

examinations while at the same time, developing & gaining precious

experiences from the profession involvement in the industries that he

had participated.

And in the year 2009, he joined a construction company, Long Kee

Piling Works Sdn Bhd as a registered Competent Safety and Health

Officer with DOSH & CIDB), leading the Health & Safety Department

and involved in many highly prestigious projects. In the year 2011, he

also completed the training & examination course and successfully

registered as a Competent Trainer for HRDF, NIOSH & CIDB.

His vast experience with over 14 years in the field of Health & Safety

Practitioner and immense exposure and know how in multiple industries

enabled him to involved in Safety First Consultancy Sdn Bhd as

Operation Director, pledging to provide quality, reliable, healthy &

safe working environment to our clients and at the same time, promote

a culture of awareness and understanding about the importance of

OSHA.

True to his faith, he believes safety is the first priority of all area, no

matter in what industry one get involved with.
