SAFETY TALK EYES & MIND ON THE TASK

Did you know? Keeping your eyes and mind on the task can help reduce and even eliminate the risk of injury

to you and everyone around you.

Sometimes when we do tasks that are repetitive or routine, our mind can drift to other thoughts and our eyes can sneak away to more interesting things. If we are busy, tired or frustrated, it can be even more difficult to stay focused.

If something goes wrong in those moments where our mind and eyes are not on the task, people can be put at risk or injured.

Safety tips—keeping your eyes on task: Keep your eyes on the task you are doing

Watch for labels and instructions

Keep your primary focus on the task, but use your peripheral vision to stay aware and alert of activity around you

If you need to look away, even for a second, ensure it is safe to do so

Safety tips - keeping your mind on task: Keep your mind focused on the task at hand

Don’t get distracted by someone or something

Be fully engaged in what you are doing—pay full attention

Always be aware of your posture and body mechanics too
