The Port of Singapore is the busiest port in the world in terms of vessel arrival tonnage, and is one of the world’s top bunkering hubs. To keep up with Singapore’s thriving maritime industry, the Certificate of Competency (Special Limit) Programme has been initiated to train seafarers in the f i e l d s o f n a v i g a t i o n a n d m a r i n e engineer ing in bunker tanker and passenger vessel operations, with the opportunity of securing employment even before their training commences. Ships plying the Special Limit sail up to 30 nautical miles off Singapore waters. With this flexibility of shorter voyages, seafarers can look forward to staying closer to home and their loved ones.
