Dear Parishioners,
Every vote counts. Every dollar helps. We
hear these phrases often to denote that there is no such
thing as an insignificant amount of sacrifice or effort
when the cause is important. In this Sunday’s Gospel
Jesus makes a similar assertion; “Anyone who gives
you a cup of water to drink because you belong to
Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose his
reward.” Even such an insignificant gesture as giving
a cup of water will incur its reward. What does this
reveal to us? It tells us that everything we do in the
name of Christ and for the people of Christ matters.
Mother Teresa once said,"If you can't feed a
hundred people, then feed just one." To help one
person, to do one act of kindness, to forgive one
person; it all helps, it all matters. We may not be able
to forgive every person that has wronged us, or do a
charitable deed for every person we encounter, but we
can try each and every day to aid or forgive that one
person. That is what faith in action looks like. To
quote Mother Teresa once more, “Not all of us can do
great things. But we can do small things with great
love.”
In Christ,
Fr. JJ
